Samsung made the same mistake as mate/P camera that need to use 10MP in low light to get better photo than 40MP.

and considering low light, I think night modes will become better by time and assist this new sensor, so no need for massive improvement as u said (binning 9 pixels) at the expense of low Mega Pixel count
Maybe they will go for 9 pixel binning when they make 200MP cam sensor

Zoom - bullshit not zoom, we can't call lens with fixed focal length as zoom.
Wikipedia - A zoom lens is a mechanical assembly of lens elements for which the focal length (and thus angle of view) can be varied, as opposed to a fixed focal length (FFL) lens (see prime lens).

It's like the megapixel war just a few years ago all over again.
And you don't need variable aperture on a phone camera. F1.4 is still not too bright for those tiny pixels we have.
ISP is improved with every generation of processors, so that's nothing new either.
Improvement in software is rather expected, since Google showed what they can do.

You people are getting hyped over the smallest things. No wonder when Apple copies something and calls it an invention you call it "amazing".

Thats definitely an improvement and somewhat exciting.
Not to mention we are talking about a flagship not lower end device.
Other aspects across rhe board from focus tech, stabilization, lens...even possibly dual or tripple aperture, image processor, and image processing software all would be greatly improved compared to the current line up of 48mp quad bayer sensors.

But one would need to understand simple logic to have grasped all that....and i guess thats not so simple to many.

Pizel size matters but pixel count also does. In all examples recently, Redmi Note 8 Pro produces better images than Redmi Note 7, because the output of the first is 16 mp photo, while the second one has 12 mp. Just check on youtube.

What matter most is pixel size, which would improve low light shots, but there's no improvement here over 48 MPix sensors already in use.

shniderx93, 27 Sep 2019I think you don't know much about what we're talking htt... moreI know exactly what I'm talking about.
This new sensor has 108 MPix, but is using pixel binning and outputs 27 MPix photos.
Right now on the market we have 48 MPix sensors, which utilize the same Tetracell tech, outputting 12 MPix shots.
In both sensors pixel size after binning is the same. The only thing we're getting with the bigger sensor is more pixels. No improvement in low light.
Current technique makes 4 (2 by 2 matrix) pixels into 1. This 108 MPix sensor could use 3 by 3 matrix, binning 9 pixels into 1, making pixels bigger, while still outputting 12 MPix photos.
But it uses the old tech instead. And that's not exciting.

Pabliell, 26 Sep 201927 MPix are not exciting, since it's the same tech as with ... moreI think you don't know much about what we're talking
