29 September 2019
That said, many in the comments are optimistic that side-loading Google Play Services will be an easy solution to the problem.

Without root, the only thing you can reset with a huawho is your wallet..

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2019Well said!Installing apk on Android to using Linux is an absurd comparison.
If these same masses can connect a OTG cable and access a pendrive or Hdd, They can install a simple apk.
There are one click rooting solutions as well.

He dared to rise above his... more"This so-called "politics" anti-Huawei's campaign goes all the way back before the Obama's administration," he said BEFORE the Obama administration, which includes his and previous administrations. You must be a leftist shill, or at the very least you certainly sound like one lol. Trump only did what past administrations were afraid to do, which is standing up to China and looking out for U.S. companies and national interests. According to him there will be no trade deal with them until they stop stealing our IP! And if they don't want to make one then good luck trying to outcompete the best tech companies in the world!

Strazzi, 30 Sep 2019Yes and they are mor then 1/3 ob thre price...yep,no discount on those, but I heard from my chinese friend they are selling a lot of Mate 30 phones in Shenzhen and Hongkong...tourists buying them like hotcakes...

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2019I'm saying that most of the users are technically challenge... moreA few hundred people in xda? It's true for each device forum. Maybe thousands. Taking different phone forums, there are lots of people. Sure it's way less than the majority but still there are lots. I'm not a nerd like you and I use Windows. And I'm not a particular brand fan but I do have some preferred ones. I support Android in general. People will continue to buy Huawei phones. The numbers may decrease because of the ban, but it's not permanent and there may be a solution later. You just keep on adding different topics. Who talked about commy and all. You might've had some bad times since you lived in a communist country. But you don't have to bring it here. This is not a political or life forum. In the end, people will buy Huawei phones and side-loading Google services is easy. Let's see what will happen about the ban. So if you have things to say other than the topic, this is not the place for you. Go elsewhere.

GrandMaster, 30 Sep 2019So you're saying most people are dumb? You can't just assum... moreI'm saying that most of the users are technically challenged. Yes, they have NO clue what an apk is or what the difference between ios and android.
The MAJORITY not only that they don't know the difference, BUT they simply don't care and want everything out the box when they buy it. Me included. Especially for a high end flagship over 1000 Euro.
Just because you, me and a few hundred of people are on xda, it doesn't mean that we represents the majority. We are just a very, very small niche and you have to admit that.
For this reason the majority will never buy it, not to mention pay some guy 10-20 bucks to root their phones. Remember, they have no clue what root means in the first place.
You may not like it, especially coming from someone like me (yes, I'm not a huawho fan - big whoop), but it's the truth. Except for the chinese market, outside it won't stand a chance.
I was pointing to you about Linux because that's the most preferred os by nerds like us on pcs. If there would be more of us, the ratio of linux os used in the world would be a lot higher, but it's not. Because most of the people are default users.
Anyway, it's your money. You can do what you wish. I just know that I'll never use one of those even if they pay me daily.
And yeah, between a very restricted os like ios and a huawho spying replica i choose ios. I can jailbreak it. I love a good challenge.
I'm not a commy supporter and never will be. Clearly you are either too young to know what that means, either never opened up a history book. I lived in a communist country and I know how it's like. I'd rather die than live that again!

AlienKiss, 30 Sep 2019It sounds simple, BUT you forget that 98% of the smartphone... moreSo you're saying most people are dumb? You can't just assume 98% of smartphone users doesn't even know about apks. In which year are you living in? There are tons of Android users using custom ROMs, rooting, etc... You can see so many people in many forums for different phones. And who talked about Linux and windows? This is about Huawei without Google and about Android. Don't bring out of the box stuff. You're telling that most people doesn't know about tech. That's your assumption. There are many, but there are many who knows too... So you can't just assume what you don't know. I agree with you on the bootloader thing unless they are offering security like BB which they do not. So they should let people unlock bootloaders. If the ban is permanent, they have to no other choice. You say that you're an Android power user and not an apple fan. But you would go for an iPhone in this case? That means you're not a true Android fan. If you were, you know that anything is possible in Android. If you don't like Huawei just say it instead of saying things out of the topic.

Easiest way I read to install apps in the new Mate30 series phone is to use Huawei's Clone Phone app. Any android phone will work. The clone app will copy all the apps from old phone to new Mate30, whatsapp, wechat, waze, etc all work.

For Google centric apps like Translate or Map, use the browser like you would on a desktop computer. Yes, you can install Chrome browser if you so wish to, but I use Firefox :-)

TBH I am banking on a discount for the phone for the lack of Google on it :D Don't get me wrong i am perfectly able to sideload but I like that people's stupidity will most likely lower the price of a great phone :D
