Well...if you are thinking that way, add 100 more and buy Oneplus 7t, or even for just $50 on top of that to buy yourself Huawei P30Pro...even better, if you have just $300 more, you could buy only phone that allow you to use S-pen. Or if you are Apple fan, just add up little bit more....like just 200-300 to go home with iPhone 11Pro plus.

Smartphone should... moreIf you are saying that practical use is only thing then Redmi note series does everything as you mentioned with a affordable price tag.& There are plenty of other phones from Oppo,vivo,Xiaomi that have similar looks & specs.They are pretty nice in spec sheet but fall short in practicality,durability & most importantly Quality.
A complete package with Practical & beautiful design Rubust build,smooth UI,decent camera,battery,audio output,Display,speakers everything counts.
Only a few of them are doing things in that sense.
Most of the OEM just follow the trend,few good exaples of them-
Display notches,holes they all are needless & practically cause obstructions while viewing contents in full screen.
No of camera sensors & MP increasing needlessly.What is the need of a depth sensor in Quad camera setup,other 2 cameras can do that job easily.& MP practically 108 MP pixel binned photo that offer almost nothing comparing to other 48 MP from sony & Huawei.
Gradient paintjob is also something not of everyone's interest.Phones do look toyish because of that shing gradient colour.Bit if some people prefer them then atleast give a plain matte colour for others.
Displays are similar thing...People only look for specs,resolution but what about quality? My friend has Poco F1,other Asus Zenfone max pro M1...beleve it or not despite having half of the price of Poco, M1 display is much better side by side.
OEMs really need to inprove their pathetic strategies.
