iOS 13.1 will tell you that your replaced screen isn't genuine

28 September 2019
Another annoying thing to keep in mind with iOS 13.

If you want to get rid of the message, you can try microsoldering. It's all about the touch module. Transplant the chip onto the replacement screen and the problem is fixed. As shared on iFixit - iPhone 11 Series Non-Genuine Screen Warning/Important Display Message - 100% Fix.

AnonD-804996, 09 Oct 2019Some of you praise individuals within companies too much...... moreMan i run a phone shop and long story short it often happens people buy for example even Iphone 11 pro max for 1500 bucks and when they come to one of our many stores they asking for a cover and even a plain cover with no color nothing special for 10 euros is too expensive for them.
Explain me this??? If i have a 1500+ euros phone how people cant shell 10 eur for cover or 15 for screen protector?

And the way new apple even after 3 years cost almost same money like brand new is apple decision.
If it wasnt so then the Samsung Galaxy note 8 still would cost 1000+ bucks but not 400 brand new or 200 euros for used.
Same goes for other brands like Huawei or Xiaomi, Lenovo, Motorola, Nokia etc.
Even the S10 will cost half the original price before the Xmas in samsung store.
People dont want drastic changes apple popularized notch and the no jack in phone i think it was drastic too much this trend were folowed by many competitors at least i hope they will not follow the apple trend where battery degrading is a feature for which an app inside the phone exist.
And last thing about genuine parts as you and i and many others know apple have no shame to use used parts in phone and give it to a brand new device.
Battery is a good example where for example refurbrished Apple X had price just 50 eur lower from the brand new one.
So i dont need to scold you but please if you want to lecture me with your fake stories please read something about it before.

AnonD-731363, 30 Sep 2019Thats hiow it is??? No this is how robbery on customers is... moreSome of you praise individuals within companies too much... Steve Jobs is gone and yet Apple continues to make insane profits year on year. And it has been 8 years since Jobs died. If company really depended on him so much, the decline would show in this time. Yet it hasn't. And it's not because users are sheep who don't know better. It's the users who don't want big changes. Why do you think VW Golf has changed so little yet it's still one of the most sold cars in Europe? People don't want drastic changes. They want same old thing they are used to, but with new specs and features. That's iPhone. That's iPad. That's Mac Book whatever. And yes, genuine parts detection IS also part of quality assurance. Apple has official replacement program where you bring in old phone, they value it and you get that value off a new one. With genuine parts detection anyone can see if everything is original. Without it, phone needs to be taken apart and inspected. Hell, even most replacable part is not that stupid expensive. Battery replacement for iPhone XR is 82€. If 82€ is all the expense in 2-3 years time to have a brand new genuine battery, then I'm gladly paying for it. Besides, new phone was 800€. But 82€ is somehow "too much" afterwards. People are weird...

Same goes for Apple shop getting one traded in without having to open it up. It is annoying for users who knowingly replace screen or battery with cheaper alternative though, but that's how it is.

Anonymous, 29 Sep 2019Would you trust the old airbags of a used car? I would neve... moreYes, it's a big business but for apple devices the screens they use are NON-GENUINE and people should know that. Since those screens are most of the time illegally sold as OEM people will now know. When you go to a phone shop selling used phones you will know which one to get!
A flagship in these days is pretty much uneconomical to fix when the display is broken. Google around and on ebay to see how much OLED replacement screens cost.
The screen is half the phone really. If it is 0.5mm thicker, or heats up more than the OEM it's a real risk. I would NEVER buy an iphone or a galaxy without the original screen.

What is the big problem though? It is not stopping you from using the phone. Just lets you know that that screen is not genuine or can't be guaranteed that it was replaced following Apple's strict guidelines.

Time for apple sheeps to support android.
This new throttling feature called genuine screen is another useless gimmick by apple.

When apple needs money i bet they make some exception even for earplugs and chargers where non genuine aple device will not work just to get more money.
Soon they will sell even own simcards with overpriced network carrier services :-)

I can't believe people are actually hating on Apple for this .This is actually helpful for used phone buyers as it now forces the sellers to be honest about repairs if any. .
And people who were gonna go the third party route will continue to do so for repairs .Apple isn't locking them to official repairs .

Apple products in general are way too expensive for what they offer compared to the competition.Apple official repairs are also way too expensive and is nothing short of cheating .I agree Apple should be criticised for a lot of things .

However that doesn't mean they deserve criticism when not warranted .This is one of those rare instances and I hope people can see that .

Its looks like every iphone users are apple's biaaatch..... Its kind of an hostage situation. All iphone users are just zombified. I just don't get these people, why can't they just think.

Used stuff is used stuff and the risks are factored in on the price.

Now apple extorting their customers to go to their service centers or risk lost resale value of their phones is a different matter, it's a ruthless way to protect their margins, I mean the screen replacement business is a BIG business in case you didn't know.
