iOS 13.1 will tell you that your replaced screen isn't genuine

Another annoying thing to keep in mind with iOS 13.

Problem is you can have a screen from an iPhone, that's a genuine one, best experience possible, but an unauthorized shop is making the replacement. You will get a message that your screen is not genuine, because the repair was not approved by Apple. Even if you have an original screen from another iPhone.
That's ridiculous.

This would actually be a helpful feature imo. I would want to know if I was being scammed....

Apple is simply handing the users the knowledge, they not forcing anyone to do anything.

It could be a good thing, i seen iphones that gotten non-original displays after accidents and they would go defective within a year or so, so it would have been cheaper to get an original display in the first place. This warning system may push technicians to use lasting original high quality displays, and most of all it will stop dishonest repair shops to use fake displays but charge the customer for an original one, which is a very big problem, just ask anyone who had iPhone displays replaced in for example Philippines or Thailand.

With this warning system the user can still chose whether he want original or not, so theres no downside to it, Apple is just making the information available, the choice is still 100% with the user.

And then Android users can continue to pay original price for non original displays and live happily not knowing their display will be defective within short time, happiness from unawareness. That would be great in a fantasy world were not knowing is a good thing.

It's all about $$$ and control. The authorized third parties pays for it too and at the end, you a are paying the extra royalties to Apple. Because the extra cost will be included in some way through third party "authorized" parts.

It's very political say that they'll allow third party repairments for free, when to achieve it they'll have to pay for the blueprints, training, machine/tools, etc, in some way, directly or indirectly, and more expensive labor/hour price for sure as now they are authorized experts... So yes, they'll be authorized but less competitive in prices and more of the same, like an extra arm from Apple in terms of cost and overpriced parts.

Anonymous, 28 Sep 2019You are not very familiar with Apple are you?? If it's not... moreAnd I see you have been brainwashed by Apple already.
You can take a genuine screen from one iPhone, but now putting it into another iPhone will make it not genuine, because someone other than Apple made the repair.
Can you see how absurd it is now?

Many people buy refurbished iphones and those are not cheap either and one who buys it puts his hard earned money on it. It could save him from buying a broken phone with a cheap display. I know it could be a little annoying for the user who actually got it repaired but it atleast saves the one who buys a refurbished one.
Also, it helps figure out if the service centre is using a genuine accessory or atleast he who repairs it is an authorised person. For all we know these repairs wont come at cheaper price
