Sails, 06 Mar 2012Really wondering if the SGS2 push to ICS will be a success ... moreunstable? care to back up this comment with any facts sails? Or are you just trying to make symbian and WP7 look less crappy? So how many devices currently out will be able to receive WP8? Even Microsoft is not stating that devices out currently would receive WP8. Until 2011, Symbian was the most widely attacked mobile OS, so much for your fanboys calling android "insecure" right? Android is currently the most widely used OS so now more malware and trojans are indeed being written for Android.

Really wondering if the SGS2 push to ICS will be a success or a world class failure.

                ICS still seems pretty unstable.

AnonD-24543, 06 Mar 2012I suppose the 25% Froyo users are LG owners? :)Actually, most of the key phones by LG run on Gingerbread right now. Next to that, 25% of ~300 million devices, thus 75 million, I doubt LG would have minded it if that was their smartphone share.

ICS sucks big time ... lot of issues ... most of my apps on my Transformer tablet keep shutting down now and then.
Seriously speaking no wonder why manufacturers still launching new devices with gingerbread .. ICs is just nnot fit enough. It has full of issues and nothing new to offer except for multitasking(thank god for that .. pretty late on that by android).

GB is already dead. Devs focus on ICS, and you shouldn't wait for the official updates - I already have ICS 4.0.3 on my Moto Defy.

Google is planning on releasing Jelly Bean by 2013. If they release two OS within a few months of a gap then they sure will lose more customers. One good thing about Apple and Microsoft is that they try to push their updates on most of their older generations as up to date as possible.

Right now, Vanilla Android is not the issue that the older devices don't receive updates, it's the OEM skins that eats up RAM and ROM.

I think this is significantly going to change over the next month... simply because Sammy is rolling out its GS2 update to ICS in the middle of the month - that's 20 million phones moving from GB to ICS...

And then of course all the new phones this year coming out with ICS on them straight out of the door...

It's got nothing to do with bugs, etc. it's simply manufacturers haven't started rolling out their promised uprades... which should all kick in any month now (because who wants to be that last manufacturer to update their handsets? not good PR... ask LG...)

So considering ICS is only available on one, maybe two handsets, it's a considerable percentage overall...

Next month's should be very interesting indeed if Sammy delivers on its promise...
