Are the Malaysians going to fall for the Communist Chinese tactics? It looks like they will have to pay full price like the Europeans...

First day launch in Malaysia, its already out of stock on Huawei MY website.

I don't see Huawei dying to this incident. First of all, companies like Nokia, Motorola, Siemens and Microsoft didn't have a country of 1.5 billion people to support them through their bad times. Even if Huawei's user base within China is of about 100 million out of that 1.5 billion, that still is like half of Europe. then there is their telecom Business, which might also be suffering but not nearly enough to keep it from growing

Huawei just need to allow bootloader unlock and 3rd party seller will fix their GAPPs problem. If they insist to lock it, it means they need to absolutely hide SOMETHING and deserve to die like a dog for it

YUKI93, 03 Oct 2019I don't mind much about Google Apps, I can live without it ... moreWell, i've use custom ROM on all my previous Sony Xperia back in the days. To be honest, after about 3 years and a half using Huawei, they didnt support unlock bootloader and u'll be lucky if u find a decent custom roms.

But as i starts using Huawei, i dont feel the needs about unlock bootloader anymore (or maybe getting old & busy with lifes). Almost all features are there already, except for deep customization looks of course. And to me no Google Apps is a bummer. Sure you can get Facebook, Whatsapp, Waze on Huawei Appgallery, but most of high end games needs Google Play Games services. Whats the point of having high performance phone then?

The camera is indeed promising (i can even say its the best for now) but the compromise is big.

I am waiting for a m30x, however seems like there isnt a x series this yr since there is a huawei mate x.

To me i m okay with m30p, but i prefer a m30x if theres 1. Or the mediapad m6 turbo, they should hav bring to msia market.

I m okay without google apps, i play some games and those apk can be dl directly from their website...🙄 Kek

YUKI93, 03 Oct 2019As a Malaysian, I already see lots of people not favouring ... moreHope they will settle this as soon as possible. I wouldn't mind if huawei apps gallery have most of the apps I use though.

Shui8, 03 Oct 2019Agreed. To be honest, at this point better get the cheaper ... moreI don't mind much about Google Apps, I can live without it due to my previous experiences with custom ROMs. Heck, now I'm using Windows Phone and I'm still not concerned with the app gap issue.

But this is finally the first time I give a thumbs up to Huawei's camera. Finally, they fixed that eye-soring waterpaiting-like oversharpening. This single photo definitely says it all:

YUKI93, 03 Oct 2019As a Malaysian, I already see lots of people not favouring ... moreAgreed. To be honest, at this point better get the cheaper P30 Pro with Google Apps support. U can get one for $735 now here in Malaysia (8gb + 256gb variant). Along with the EMUI 10, at least hopefully the camera processing software got updated (eventhough not as near quality as Mate 30).

I'll wait for next Mate 40. By that time if the ban issue still persist, time to find other alternatives.

YUKI93, 03 Oct 2019As a Malaysian, I already see lots of people not favouring ... moreQuite a bummer that the 4G variant's SoC isn't made with the 7nm+ process either. Who knows when 5G is coming here.

I'm actually curious how the overall software would look like though.

                                      What about Google Play Store?
                                      Do they don't need?

As a Malaysian, I already see lots of people not favouring this phone because of the lack of Google Play Services and subsequently Google Play Store. This is going to be a tough sell here, considering that only a very handful percentage of people ever familiar with custom ROMs.
