As has been the case from 2G, WHAT IS THE F*CKING POINT OF HAVING FAST INTERNET IN A CITY? Who is going to stand at Picadilli Circuit and watch The Purge? This 5G is needed on motorways to stream navigation data and movies etc to devices that are actually mobile, say workers on a train, or drivers wanting Spotify/Apple Music etc streams.
This is precisely what happened with 3G, villages and transport routes never got it, but the ait time providers put it in cities so they could say they have a fast network where the politicians are and satisfy the authorities. EE, this is meaningless! I want it on the beach, in the hills where I can stream 4K (and soon), 8K video, in my car, on the train, bus, coach etc!
    You're welcome!

Peachy001, 06 Oct 2019As someone that has used a lot of trains in South and West ... moreThis is true all over the UK and not only. Many other countries have poorly developed infrastructures as well. 5G is the new money making hype machine though.

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2019Don't they have Wifi on those trains? That doesn't detract ... moreNot all trains have Wi-Fi so it's a mixed bag. Also, even if the Wi-Fi is available, sometimes you can't even connect to it so it's pointless to even have it on as this is all basically a scam so no wonder the op wishes to have a stable 3G/4G mobile connection which is also unavailable on some routes as UK networks (and many others in different countries too) are not set up to their full theoretical potential..

By the way, the full theoretical potential of 4G is 1Gbps just like 5G so it's all hype and money, not logical thinking let alone execution.

Peachy001, 06 Oct 2019As someone that has used a lot of trains in South and West ... moreDon't they have Wifi on those trains? That doesn't detract from your point admittedly but it would help to some extent. On the other hand I would be tempted to say those are precisely the areas that should get 5G sooner rather than later. To my mind it would make more sense to put 5G in those areas than 3G or 4G. Unfortunately I suspect those areas aren't very profitable so what will actually happen is anyone's guess. The one thing we still don't see is the a combined infrastructure like with TV and radio transmitters. I was hoping 5G would address that but obviously that won't be happening.

As someone that has used a lot of trains in South and West Yorkshire, I'd say they need to sort out the 3g and 4g first. There are parts of my commute where you can't get either.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2019We should all be greatfull to the tech heads out there and ... moreYou do know Samsung sell the 5Ä¢ variants of their flagship phones at pretty much the same price as the 4G ones. You can then just get a cheap 4G contract and for the same price you have a degree of future proofing as well as a current flagship. If you're not in the market for a flagship at all I'm not sure 5G will ever truly benefit you.

We should all be greatfull to the tech heads out there and brand snobs who will buy into 5g helping it to establish itself and bring the price down. 2020 should see 5g coverage spread nicely and 2021 probably time to take the plunge.

I dont care about the network 5G much! It is enough for me to have only 4G, but the network has to work. Not like in Bournemouth center, you are in the square and there is no network. What do you say, O2?

Operations need to step up their game and speed things along with more coverage and cheaper phone. There are a few 500 dollar 5g phones on the market. They should just offer them but the most important thing is coverage and price of unlimited data plans. Unlimited data plans are getting more and more expensive.

Awesome. By the end of the month every network in the UK will now have 5G!!!!!!!!!!

Shame there are only about 3 phones that support it.

First time the UK leads the way in mobile infrastructure and we can't even use it.

There are already serious complaints about 5G,from Switzerland.People are complaining, they have hearing problems, and they cant sleep, since 5G deployed in their area. Also they said, they feel like in a microvawe oven. So,I should wait, until the REAL health risks become known.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 20195G adoption is so slowBecause 4g still haven't really implemented widely itself. Most countries aren't getting true 4g connections
. Only 3g have worldwide connectivity.

I would wait at least 3 years before 5g coverage is remotely worth looking at.. Don't waste your time or money.

At this point in time, I see that 5G phones are damn expensive and I'm not gonna invest in a 5G phone. The price of 5G data is yet to be known so I'll hold my opinion on that. Unless 5G phones become more budget-friendly I guess that 5G adoption will be slow. The data speed of 5G is something really interesting.
