Last year I said th... moreYea some part of me wish's I get the xperia p, as the looks of that phone are amazing, infact when i first saw the xperia s in my mind I was like i wish its metal sadly its not. I think the reasons for this being weight and as for the screen i think sony didnt have enough time as they quickly wanted to release this phone, doesnt even have ics but from what i hear thats a good thing for now as the current ics is buggy and not all apps will run onit, this will soon all change and by which time i hope sony would have updated

Last year I said the war of the phones would be won on handset design - and if that were the case - Sony would win...

BUT WHAT DID MANUFACTURERS DECIDE TO DO THIS YEAR?!?

Literally take away functions from phones - essential ones - such as the Radio / Memory with the HTC One X (their flagship) and for Sony's flagship - take away external memory again!!

Had they kept the specs of last year AND given it a funky design, that would have been great, but taking away essential basics FOR NO GOOD REASON - is criminal and regressive...

On that basis, the two nicest looking phones (One X and Xperia S) are rendered useless based on the fact that the manufacturers took things away instead of continuously adding... I'd have easily bought an Xperia S if it weren't for the internal memory issue...

                  AND!

Why put a better screen and aluminium body on the Xperia P and not the S??!? Yet again we see not one great device with every feature you need as a flagship, but all these features split out into two handsets that as a result become 'average'... ARGH!

Stylish... yes... but 32gb memory in reality = about 28gb? possibly a bit less? you throw in regular updates a few films (for your wonderful connectivity) games / hd recorded video and pictures and you're going to be running out super-fast...

As for buying unlocked in order to update... my point was people shouldn't have to - the phone should be able to stand the test of time, I bought a GS2 on contract last year - it's still outperforming devices like this and others released THIS YEAR... that is why Samsung (unfortunately, and I do mean it, their UI is terrible and their looks are boring as hell) - but all of that can be remedied by a launcher app and a funky case... what you can't update are the physical specs of an outdated phone... you're stuck with them for YEARS...

                      :(

As ever in life... great legs, shame about the face...

this is something i think sony has picked up on and they hae only improved things you'll really notice such as camera and screen.

the main thing i now look out for on smartphones is the way they look, as they will all preform more or less the same plus minus a second or two.

also i hate apple lool, like the look of the phones but software tooooooooooooo constricting

I like this phone alot but the 24 month contracts which seem to be all that offered these days are a tad too long for me, however i have already pre ordered tis for for £25pm with 900 min and unlimited texts and 1gb internet. As i said befor i dont like 24 contracts but this offer seemed too good will probably have to buy a new phone by this time next year and try and get about 200 for the xperia s.

btw gsmarena I would really like a full review, as i can still cancle my order if a major fault appears

Because its free, the only way the carrier can make money out of you is to bond you with their services for 24months.

                                        A very original design.

And Sony updates are coming rapid since last year as fast as HTC's or Samsung's. With better multimedia connectivity and NFC communication.

At £370 pay as you go it is a steal.

                                        A highly recommended buy.
