SwaggaTECH, 09 Mar 2012U dnt understand. Am using a nokia E5 with 23.45gb data use... moreWhat you tell me is perfectly true and i agree. But, so far, WP is tied to operating a PC. Just like iOS is. Until this changes, we cannot do anything about it (i am not a fan of Zune either). My opinion is that you should go for a device that fits your needs perfectly. Android devices are a very good alternative, i think.
Also, we must be a little wise: WP is a very young OS. It is passing through it's natural stages of development. They will have to overcome this difficulties in architecture. Try to remember Android or iOS in the first couple of years.

hi i am a symbian user which is not as good operating system as android. but i currently have no plan to switch to windows platform rather i will chose android. reasons are 1. no micro sd card i have a hundred dollar symbian device with which i am using a 16gb card almost full with my college tour pics and vids. what would happen if i make 720p video with lumia and after some time i get shortage of memory. even i wont be able to transfer videos to pc except zune. 2ndly i want to transfer a quick snap from my friend fone bluetooth of lunia fones cant do that.3rdly i run chat app twitter normaly.in background and browse web on top of them or watch online videos what if i have lumia i wont be able to get an alert of chat msg during my youtube playback coz windows platform just suspend that app in background. symbian is slow i accept but it doesnt restrict me to chat and remain online on twitter and play video and at same time i may be exchanging some nice songs with my frnd with bluetooth.

TruthSeekr, 09 Mar 2012This is not about Security for the "ungrateful fart&qu... moreI perfectly understand this matter regarding the emergent markets, but Tango is not focused on emergent markets only. And i think we are talking about WP here, not Nokia. In this case, to match your needs, there are other WP devices that fit your needs regarding the battery and data plan. The SD card, on the other hand, is MS's option. WP8 will include SD support, due to your requests, but MS never planned this originally. The plan was to deliver a safe storage environment, with good performances and reliability - the internal nand chip.
One more thing to add... usually people buy a product that fit their needs, not buy a product than be mad that it doesn't fit their needs.

pmc, 09 Mar 2012whats wrong with microsoft...they still wont pay attention ... moreActually,Nokia lumia 800 has a sim tool kit facility. Its hidden in the settings. I had an omnia 7, htc hd7 and htc mozart and they all lacked this facility. Nokia has come to our rescue where the Windows failed us.

Everyone who knows any developing market should know that microSD is absolutely essential... internal memory is expensive and limited...even an 8 gb can get filled up very soon...microSD memory is cheap, useable and very popular... hope wp incorporates it very soon

So U mean i hv to transfer em to PC and use zune to transfer em into a winphone. Never. As an AFRICAN without PC and a lover of Nokia phones, they must do sometin bcos l cn see the footprints of MSFT employees in the previous posts. You can tie an AFRICAN USER TO AMERICAN WAYS OF MOBILE TECH. We are a unique market that is why nokia is doing well and l luv their tech and battery backup.

Its about giving people what THEY say they need, rather than what YOU think they need.
And if you live in one of those developing markets that Tango is meant for in the first place, it makes sense to give features that take into consideration expensive data plans (ergo no SkyDrive) and removable batteries (to keep going when there's no power).
We can worry about identity theft later..

The fact about SD cards: as you can probably see, devices tend to not support anymore the storage extension cards. And this has a good reason. It is almost impossible to secure a microSD card in a phone, and it is useless, when built-in storage is so cheap, and 10 times faster to access. Now, the problem is here: the typical ungrateful fart has no idea that the pictures or the credit card information from his e-wallet is stored on the SD card. On EVERY OS out there, once you have access to a small portion of the SD, it is easy to make your way in the whole memory card. So, some complain about security while they yell for SD cards - well, you can't have them both!
Now there are this other guys, those who need space. If 8 or 16 Gb is not enough for you, man, you have issues. Get a USB stick or an external HDD, yet, better get a doctor.

How 256 MB of ram can't do uploads, video podcasts, etc? My N900 has the same ram and can do it, even N95 from 4 years ago can do these features ! ! !

well yeah im from the philippines and it's a low price market.
You are right truthseekr, microsd is a must if microkia wants to penetrate low price market.
with a third world country like ours where data plans are for the rich and spotty 3G signal, skydrive is useless.
our country is one of nokias strongholds before, as we are the texting capital of the world.
now, all the nokia phone i see are the previous models from 3-5 years ago.
most of the people here buy cheap phone esp the galaxy mini and galaxy y for touchscreen smartphones, corby and china phones for feature phones.
if nokia want to be a world leader they need to rethink their strategy.

This is gonna be an uphill battle.
WP7 is awesome, but its not so much of a "must have" on people's mind that it makes sense to strip down essential features in favor of a better price point.
And one of *the most* essential features is expandable storage:
if Nokia-Microsoft are aiming this at low-price markets like India, they should realize that data plans are still pretty expensive there - and no one's gonna care about the 25gigs of SkyDrive they'll never be able to upload to.
They really should have put a microSD slot in.
