Weekly poll: is the OnePlus 7T Pro a worthwhile upgrade?

13 October 2019
It brings few changes over the OnePlus 7 Pro and bumps up the base price. There's also the 7T to compete with.

P.S apple got to fast charger train this year. Where have you been since iPhone 11 launch?
I have a op6 and 7t misses far too much. Especially wireless charging for me to even consider it as upgrade. Like they're charging freaking 700 better give flagship features then. S10 costs that much now... I could flash stock Android on it and get a better deal than op now

I have no issue with Type-C headphones (those things are EASY to stick a 32-bit DAC into it) but I'm afraid of abusing the Port due to using it for charging and listening to music.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2019Really? MicroUsb is inferior in every way to usb type C. ... moreStop spreading misinformation! You can use any 3.5mm headphones just fine, just carry a passive adapter. You can tape it to the headphones if you don't want to lose them and problem's solved.

USB-C still supports analogue signal as long as a DAC is present on the phone (all Snapdragons have one) and wired to it (the only one I know of that doesn't is the Pixel). You can connect any headphones via USB-C via USB-C audio pass through with literally zero loss in quality. It doesn't matter whether the DAC in the phone is wired to the USB-C port or the 3.5mm.

The ONLY argument I can understand is charging and listening to music at the same time as splitters are terrible because of the interference issues. That is somewhat alleviated with fast charging but also how rarely that happens. You usually charge your phone at home so you can just connect the headphones to your PC.

Though if you are using a Pixel or active 3.5mm-USB C adapter you only have yourself to blame for getting a terrible phone and/or the wrong adapter.

They should've just made the McLaren edition the only Oneplus 7T pro version.

It's funny how more and more phones have almost the same chassis construction with curved display just like the galaxy s7 edge but nobody complains about it, or stupid comments about t who is copying who:D

Making nearly the same flagship smartphones within one year is just a blatant money making attempt from nothing. OP7T Pro upgrade is worthwhile only if you have got OP5 or older model. I wouldn't be bothered even having OP 6T.

Kingslayer, 13 Oct 2019No upgrade is worth it after 1 or 2 years. Only becomes wor... morei wouldn't say they're not worth it, but upgrading less often is a more practical choice though.

How often you need to upgrade also depends on what phone you bought. The lesser the amount of drawbacks & shortcomings your phone has, the less likely you'd need to upgrade it anytime soon.

If you buy a phone like the Note 10 Plus, or the Mate 30 Pro, or even the iPhone 11 Pro Max, then you wouldn't need to upgrade your phone for the next 2 years at the least (and you can easily extend that to 4 years if you're not keen on getting the latest features that newer flagships will offer),

The "T" versions have never been for people who bought the Non-T versions. They're for people who bought last year's T version.

OnePlus 6 to 7 is a decent upgrade
OnePlus 6T to 7T is a decent upgrade
OnePlus 7 Pro to 8 Pro should be a decent upgrade

Also, if you upgrade your phones every 2-4 years instead, then the upgrade will be much more significant & obvious to you.

Worthwhile upgrade to what? Their own phones? Definitely not.
An older flagship from another company? Maybe, but 2 to 3 more months and phones with the new soc will come out and even with 5g so no point in buying oneplus at all..
There shouldn't have been a 7t pro in the first place as the only upgrade is the soc but it's still the same just a bit over locked so not worth the money

They just hit the wall. Apart from raising the price they can't even offer appropriate features. McLaren edition? Just a petty excuse of a name. Just swiping an orange tint on the sides, put the logo then call it a 'special edition'? The previous Oneplus 6T McLaren did an even better job. Hell, even the Oneplus 7T offers way more upgrades over the Op7. With the McLaren edition, it could've been called a true upgrade in the line-up
If they went with faster charging with 65W/50W or even close, a 120Hz screen refresh rate and higher screen sampling rate,
Bigger battery capacity at least 4500mAh, wireless charging (they are aiming to be a flagship now. So why not), higher storage like 512GB/1TB like how Samsung offers for their note and S series( no SD slot anyway why not give some more storage, for those who keep high resolution media and like to hear or watch them on the go from the device itself rather than relying on some alternative accessory for storage expansion each and evey time. They are giving some good display and all. The 256GB storage is now pretty much norm for nowadays' devices. For Oneplus following the apple trends(bad ones at that)adding an extra storage doesnt hurt.)
Wonder how much 'incremental upgrades' they'll put in their next year's series.

Tbh rather just buy the S10 plus for cheaper or an IPHONE 11.If i had to go Oneplus it'll be between 7/7 Pro or 7t
