Kingslayer, 12 Oct 2019Pixels really are the iPhones of the Android world. Google ... moreDid you try it or did you just read the spec sheet? Because there is a difference here due to the 21/9 aspect ratio, it can go where phones of the same length and smaller can't, i.e., pockets. Just saying, nothing more.

    What a foolish gimmick

Woodvsgoodexperience, 12 Oct 2019Those girl apply make-up before and after... Can the FaceID... moreFaceID and 3D ToF camera scans a 3D model of your face and make up does not change face structure so it unlocks and as for twins not every twin has same facial structure but degree of differenciation varies some twins have clearly different face structure while some have only slight in case of clear difference FaceID might not unlock but if difference is small it might as there have been some cases of it

        [deleted post]No you are wrong

Pixels really are the iPhones of the Android world. Google copied Apple's Face ID. The wave gestures is borrowed from the Samsung Galaxy S4 (2013) which borrowed from smaller companies like O+.

If Apple fans wants to accuse Google for ripping them off, they should watch this video...

I wish Google bought Essential and make them part of the Android hardware team along with those ex-HTC employees. They should all collaborate with new ideas. I would get an Xperia 5 but it's too tall.

If you put phone in front of your face, but you don't look at the screen, it won't unlock. It only does that if it detects that you actually looked at it.

Form your experience either Face Detection or Fingerprint Scanner which one is better? In my opinion both have pros and cons. Fingerprint scanner is way better if the phone is in your pocket while Face detection is the phone is on your hand but sometimes you really don't want to unlock the phone but just in case the the user face is accidentally posture in some angles and detected by FaceID or 3D ToF and unlock unawares.

First people complain about the notch on Pixel 3 XL and now there complaining about the top bezel on Pixel 4. Google can't win.

oh yeah...cuz it's soo much more convenient skipping tracks with a hand gesture than just press a button. These type of gestures (which Samsung already tried years ago) are the best proof smartphone manufacturers have no ideas anymore. If it would be more convenient we would used it for years. Truth is, 99.9% of the time it's worse. pure gimmick.

Woodvsgoodexperience, 12 Oct 2019Those girl apply make-up before and after... Can the FaceID... moreTwins can "fool" the FaceID. But really, how common are twins and for it to be an issue on a global level? Not an issue imo. Makeup, unless it's ridiculously radical, it doesn't affect it afaik. At least for me, FaceID doesn't seem to care whether I wear glasses of any kind or not. It even scans through polarized sunglasses which I thought would be a problem.

This phone is shaping up to be quite interesting.

The phone looks outdated and very meh. The camera/video has to be really good for me to care, and please improve the video quality as well. It doesn't make sense to have such a big gap in quality where the main camera takes good pics, but the video quality is mediocre.

I'm personally rooting for Pixel 4 to succeed because I'm Team Pixel all the way. I just have my doubts that they will ever be. It's either Samsung or a Chinese world with Android. The makers of Android just will never breakthrough whether it's named Nexus or Pixel. Google phones will always be niche.

Which is more secure FaceID with 3D ToF camera or the one mentioned here

I found SD card slot is useful when you want to rescue your data inside the phone, oh I know your China phone must have pin to eject the tray make you don't like the SD card slot.

looking that picture, you can control the music player with lesseffort by tapping the buttons instead of waving your hand. xD

Recently getting three TPU cases for each of my phones, I no longer care about the glass backs and the actual design. The sole reason I don't want a Pixel 4 has nothing to do about ir being ugly or the price. It has everything to do with Android 10.

                                    1. Call Blacklist Pro is broken.
                                    2. QuickPic can no longer share to Google Photos or Viber.
                                    3. ES File Explorer can no longer create app backups.

I'm not into rooting or installing custom ROMs on my phone although I've done them before. If I could stay on Pie forever, I would. Pixel 3 and the Essential Phone could be the last two phones I want to buy because it offers me that. Pixel 3 came with Pie right out of the box. Essential went from Nougat to Oreo to Pie and only made it better. They're the only two phones with a decent size too that isn't a Sony. While OnePlus makes too many large phones for my taste.

I have no interest in Samsung nonsense. I wish Google made a closed platform after Android but with Android-like open features. I don't think Android will be around forever and ever. I want them to go directly against Samsung in their next generation of mobile OSes. I bet Google will win. Google's services are superior. Samsung always needed Android to succeed. They couldn't even make Tizen succeed.

I learned Samsung can have better hardware but software is what keeps us all locked-in. Think of those video game consoles. A system can have great specs but if the software (games) isn't there, nobody will buy it. You don't buy hardware just to collect dust or pile up bad software. Apple succeeds because iMessages and their ecosystem locks them all up. Killer apps their sheeple can't live without.

My LG G5 is a better all-around phone than my Pixel 3 and Essential Phone. Has a headphone jack, removable battery, microSD slot, IR blaster, and wide-angle cam. But why do I keep going back using the other two more? Because of software. I prefer Pie over Nougat many times over. Hardware makes you buy it but software makes you stay.

Further. Give me an epic battery advent screen, and improved camera from my 2XL, I'll lap it up. Place the cameras anywhere, in any shape. Make the colour anything you want. Make the larger device 5mm shorter, he'll, add a 1mm to the thickness of it helps. Don't wanna include the jack, fine, just make sure the wireless charging is in, along with a single in the box. Want the thing to stand out, ditch rear glass. Go with cork, or ceramic or polycarbonate. ditching the SD card slot, fine, make it 128GB as a base. Want to use a Snapdragon 855, slightly detuned, fine, just make sure the bloat is minimum, and the fluidity is maximum. I don't need the Earth, I just don't want 2 compromises, when 1 would do.

Looks aside, I just want them to say "hey, we improved the camera a bit, but improved the battery loads. This is the the Pixel with an all day battery". I'd overlook the colours, and listen. The shape of the camera module would not even register with me. After all, who ever said, "your phone is epic, but the camera layout isn't nice"? Nobody. Come one, sort out the basics!
