          - This story (if it is true itself) tells us only that Face ID is hard to fool; but it doesn't prove that "Face ID is more secure than Touch ID" or that "face is more unique than fingerprints".

So both required...so this could be the most secured thing if Apple could combine both
Again, if you can select for your smartphone to ask at the same time for your face and your fingerprint

design will be the worst of 2019! it looks so childish!

Nicolas F, 11 Oct 2019> "As for security, no one ever said it's MORE secure th... moreSo what? You can literally lift a fingerprint with a sticky tape. Can you just lift person's face contour from air? As a result, anyone with some sticky tape and a rubber glove could technically fool fingerprint scanner. Doing that with face is more difficult.

How is doing both at once more secure? Why are you even asking this? It's already hard to hav either, face or fingerprints. Having BOTH at once during unlock process, even less likely. That's how it's more secure. And from all this, I can understand why Apple said it's more secure. Also Apple was the first to utilize advanced sensors that also take depth into account where everyone else did stupid 2D scan which was proven on many occassions to be able to fool with a simple photo of someone. Where FaceID was known to only get fooled by highly detailed 3D head of the user which was purposely sculpted to fool the scanner. So, yeah, pretty damn secure.

The Motion sense gesture looks cool but I suggest it should be use on a tablet but not phone.

                        - And how can a fingerprint saved for a phone unlock be used against you? Especially if it's not stored as image, but as mathematical representation (at least Apple does that)?

Face unlock would be more secure if people who worry the hanky-panky of the back doors for certain country. Face unlock require more sensor so a bigger notch is there but if the face detection is secure and faster than fingerprint scanner then it would be a solution. Which is more reliable based on privacy of bio-data usage?

Nicolas F, 11 Oct 2019Face unlock is just a gimmick. Nobody, especially Apple, ha... moreNo it's certainly NOT just a gimmick. It's actually very useful. Especially on iOS 13 which is much faster in this regard. When I raise the phone, it's unlocked before I swipe the screen up to open, so it's like there isn't anything in the way. It's stupid fast now without any finger swinging and chasing of fingerprint scanning spots. As for security, no one ever said it's MORE secure than fingerprints. However, the fact is, you leave fingerprints everywhere, everything you touch. Where face, while out in the open, you don't leave it around physically like fingerprints. And only time I heard FaceID being fooled was with a highly detailed 3D head. The time and skill required to do that in order to fool it is just above and beyond what most people is able to do. I'm expecting Apple to combine FaceID with underscreen TouchID for dual security sometime in the future. Finger on screen plus face scan for extra security. I never thought I'll like it, but now I can't imagine using phone without it. It's that smooth.

Face unlock is just a gimmick. Nobody, especially Apple, has ever proved (and not just claimed) that facial recognition is more "secure" (and even convenient) than fingerprint recognition.

We are still years away how we interact with our phones like in Minority Report and how Tony Stark did it.
