Xiaomi patents a corner selfie camera design

Do people still make selfies? I mean come ON, arn't this m... tired of their face in every picture? That is me... look me again... me... there is me.... me when i am me.... me when me is where me was.

    I find the first design pretty cool. If the cameras are small enough the "notches" would be almost non-intrusive, would look good and symmetrical and give room for double selfie cameras for bokeh and such. The second one has a screen that's too curved wasting space for the sake of looking symmetrical, the 3rd one is just ugly and the top bezel of the 4th one goes against the purpose of these patents

    So the first one it iss. I really hope this doesn't end up buried in a shelve with all the other non used patents companies tend to register.

        The first one is essentially two notches and I'm not a fan. The second one is quite decent, camera in bezels that aren't notches. Just loose the bottom bezels. No need for it to be symmetrical bezels at the bottom.

        Third one is a bit funny and the last one is a upside down Mix 1,2,2s with dual camera.

                I'm only amazed why it took so long for some company to think of it, it's the best, simplest solution for having a front camera with IP68 without second display

To be fair, not all of these are good. The one without cutout but more like devil's horn is less likely to get into production, it's very prone to crash when dropped, killing the front camera. First design looks best to me.

                                    Appreciate the effort in trying to integrate a camera without intruding into the screen. But I wonder if it would be better if OEMs simply provide the slimmest possible bezels. And the time and resources being spent on this could be better allocated on more crucial advancements -- battery life, screen tech, software/security updates and other packaging and tech challenges.

                                        i don't mind the top and bottom bezels, even if they are big as the razers- they have put the big bezels to good use by slapping balanced dual front-facing stereo speakers that are individually amplified and dolby atmos certified.
