Samsung patents a reverse notch display

      I dont see a problem with a slim bezel like the s9. This just looks stupid, pointless and makes the phone look old fashioned.
      Still with a slim bezel thats just big enough to mount the needed cameras sensors and notification lights. Its practical it works and looks perfect.
      Move on and concentrate on new ideas for a phone and stop tinkering with something that works and looks perfect.

        I got an idea for a phone

        6 inch at least display with some form of AMOLED

        Front dual speakers

        Square corners

        Fingerprint under the display OR side mounted

        And for the camera, have the rear camera flip around to the front, but hide it UNDER the display

            I actually think this is a great idea as hopefully it will allow for more sensible aspect ratios. 20:9 and such like for stupid screen size bragging rights is ridiculous.

              Notches and punch-holes are stupid. U can't even fully view the whole screen. Don't even start with that stupid notch or punch-hole hiding features which is still pointless to do.

You can even hope it will became pop out thing in the future, it would just need space for that in the phone. Who knows, maybe they couldn't find enough space this time so this is the result.

Dude, it houses all the sensors needed like the ambient sensor, proximity sensor, facial recognition, and earpiece. Accept it. Bezels are important and the best we can do at this time.

                      I would like to see two variants, both with a non-curved flat display with sharp corners (rectangle) like any other LCD monitor has.
                      One with a bezel to put camera and 3D ToF sensor and loudspeaker, and one with a motorized camera lacking a selfie camera altogether. 16:9 or 16:10 is enough, no need to enlarge the display in only one direction.
                      I still use a Samsung Galaxy S5 which has a rectangular display and bezel. The display could be larger for ebook reading, but I do not like the recent offers. Either no 3.5mm jack, or no microSD slot, usually no user replacable battery, and a notch, curved display, or some other ugliness.
