Pixel 4 can't record 4K video at 60fps as Google thinks you don't need it

21 October 2019
The tweet with the explanation also makes a passing reference to how much storage 4K @ 60fps video consumes.

Big companies market share are overtaken by Chinese manufacturers and they are wondering why. This is why. Bless the hyper competition in China so we can enjoy flagship spec and innovative phones at lower price.

Coz most Android flagships shoot great 4k content with great colors, dynamic range and image stabilization.
Some flagships may drop frame rate in low light, but this only happens on stock cam, 3rd party apps give you constant 60fps.

Heyz, 21 Oct 2019But it would still be a subpar feature since no phone, not ... morePlz stop promoting lies. 4k 60fps works just fine without frame drops and works even better on Android phones with cooling like to ROG Phone 2 since the phone temperatures are kept well in check during 4k recording.

and no it can't record at 60fps at UHD

Some people make it seem the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are terrible. They aren't. Pixels still offer the best Android software experience out there. Smooth as butter the way Google envisions Android to be. They will still be updated up to Android 13. If Google priced these phones at $499 initially, they would sell like crazy. Of course, there wouldn't be a point for the 3a at $100 less.

Shanti Dope, 21 Oct 2019More options = better. It wouldn't hurt their a***s that m... moreBut it would still be a subpar feature since no phone, not even the newest iphone can actually do a consistent 4k/60. So why add a subpar "feature" it is just gonna be a waste. If they can afford a gimbal, they would most likely opt for an actual camera with a 1" sensor that can do a consistent 4k/60. It doesn't make sense to add a feature that just gives people more problems. And if you look at most 4k/60 capable phones, most achieve it by interpolation. So not even real 4k/60. You just get a blurrier per frame result than if you would have recorded in 4k/30. The dirty fact no one talks about ia that Android can't do real 4k/60. If you look at white paper documents, the only one who actually comes close is huawei's flagship. But even with that, it all breaks apart when it's dark.

as a matter of fact many people have 1080p screens...... a few doesn't have smart tv and just a few people that just upgraded their tvs have 4k because that's the new standard ...
most people record videos with default settings (1080p) and upload videos 1080p so that might be the reason for google state that too..... and yes other reason is limited storage ... it is no secret that companies now days prefers you spend more money on their products than on a third party sd ... past are the days in which a use could use a slow profile sd card the norm now is clast 10 u1 for 1080p videos and u3 for 4k which most people doesn't have unless you know why you are getting it for.

For example movies are 24p, I do not understand this fetish for 4K60.
just read reviews here, many devices do better quality at 4K30 than 60p.

it wouldn't be a problem if you had microSD expandable storage.

If buyers want the Pixel 4, it looks like Google is almost forcing them to buy the 4 XL, the more expensive model. Seems like the better buy. Google for some reason decided to gimp the smaller model with a smaller battery.

Okay so to compensate for the limited hardware google should provide extraordinary software, instead they are limiting you. Even 2 year old iphone x had 4k 60. Basically apple has more features than a top of the line flagship android
