Those are PAST sales. They don't come with a compulsory life-time subscription fees to Intel.

Guess why Intel just slashed their premium Core X processor prices by 50%? Because they understand that old sales doesn't lead their future revenue. AMD stealing sales left, right and centre does however cost Intel a ton of lost revenue. That's a self-inflicted profits loss of around 3 billion dollars. That's just the beginning, as those price cuts will have to spread across their whole spectrum.

Companies dont pay 500-1000 million dollars yes a Billion dollar to change 50,000 servers in one day , not even in 5 years.

if you are not part of the business dont talk nonsense from your mind.

Besides , all chips have back doors from the Governments , this is not a bug, and IBM has others but are hidden because few use them compared to intel

LR has been here for a while now, and a partially functioning PS is released for iOS, which will gradually be fleshed out to match the x86 version. As long as the ARM MacBooks run iOS apps seamlessly, they have a firm standing. The absolute performance of Apple's latest A13, admittedly 2-3 generations ahead of the others, is firmly in desktop CPU territory, at a fraction of the TDP.

If all you do is basic tasks, like you do on your smartphone or tablet, then it'll be sufficient. Intel needs to focus on improving their current architecture and platform, especially their desktop processors. And the idea of Apple buying them out is even more ludicrous than AMD purchasing them lol. They'll just ditch them like they did with IBM's PowerPC for something else.

I will always buy Intel laptops until I see ARM or AMD processors outperforming it or beating it in benchmarks, which probably won't happen anytime soon. I'm not a PC gamer since I like video game consoles too much. Besides, most PC games are boring, crappy, and rehashed FPS games anyway.

Am I the only one noticing the possibility of a 5.4-inch iPhone? Rumours were there earlier. But this seems a bit more concrete. I am no Apple fan, but the rate at which Androids are going and growing, this 5.4-inch device might be the only compact thing around. Unless of course, they continue with the Copy Apple culture.

Intel moving too slow for Apple's yearly upgrades. Microsoft is not happy also.. having to push the Neo to 2020.

Both are slowly making their way away from intel dependency. But x86 programs, legacy programs, AAA gaming are always pulling them back to Intel.

But its easier for Apple to migrate. Microsoft will be endlessly emulating x86 legacy programs for years to come.

In the end, the only possible consumer customer would be those desktop lovers, which will be torn in endless competition between AMD / Intel. And will only upgrade once every 5 - 10 years.. and those cloudservers.. from amazon or google. Then Intel will fade from consumer's minds.. but still alive in the business thou.

To get at over 50% ARM it takes 20-40 years. ARM is RISC and Intel is CISC. It was a war RISC vs CISC in desktop/server market in 90s, remember IBM PowerPC and RISC lost. RISC survived in mobile market. Whether desktops all get mobile like phone then yes, we may see Windows with ARM. But Windows lost the mobile, WinRT is abandoned and Windows on ARM tablet like Nokia failed to sell in 2012. Now you want all attempts repeated again but the investors in the boards do not.
