LG G8X ThinQ lands in the US on November 1 along with the Dual Screen accessory

This Korean company thinks you'll settle for two separate screens instead of one that folds.

The G8X looks far more interesting than the Samsung Fold. My main issue is the lack of single app support across both screens. I would love a dual-screen phone that would allow me to read double the word count on an ebook or article. If LG could make that happen, I might reconsider LG for a future phone. As it stands, taking 13 months to release Pie for the V30s has soured me on the company. I doubt very much my phone will even get Android 10 let alone 2 more security updates before it turns 2-yrs old. It really is a pity because the hardware it excellent on the phone.

No doubt, Innovation wise LG is one of the best phones around, who introduced wide angle lens and manual lens in mobile phones, finger print sensor at the back. But lg need to concentrate more on battery issues and OS update issues. No security patches provided for years and years.

So does this mean Europe won't get this either?

Funny the old. G2 is still the best phone and they don't know why

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2019Samsung Galaxy Fold is way way much better in terms of hard... moreGalaxy Fold is a complete disaster. I can't spend $2,000+ in a phone that needs extra care when opening & closing and it won't last even a year of use because of ugly hinge visible after few days of use . The idea was good...the implementation results in a UGLY AND EXPENSIVE PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!!

ZloiYuri, 23 Oct 2019Well, we all know how bad is quality of LG. And how "good" ... moreLG does not make bad quality phones...the main complaint is about software updates & battery eficiency...(the famous "bootlop problem" was on a few models in 2014-2015). Every brand has its own models with faulty hardware (don't forget the exploding Note 7) and takes very bad decisions about features (samsung's security flaws in screen fingerprint scanner or folding phones). For me paying $2,000+ for a faulty folding phone is wasting your money. Every brand has good & bad phones in its history...the main problem with LG they lost market share due to very poor marketing (Xiaomi/Huawei are now the leaders in some market segments).

LOL i thought price for the phone alone gonna be 800$, and even that wouldnt be too much since everyone is selling their flagships for above 1000$. This is not a flagship phone but the price is too low. What is this, 700$ for both phone and the screen?!?!? In the era of 2000$ smartphones we get this beast that is giving us a choice of using the dual screen and it costs as much as a mid-high end phones. Thats a ridiculous price. Since it was released, it was the only phone that would make me actually switch from my current phone. As a enthusiast i have lost my desire to buy phones coz of the insane prices and same thing being released over and over again.

Well, we all know how bad is quality of LG. And how "good" will work this weird gimmick. Will they fix bugs? No. Will they support this phone? No. LG just have to stop treating consumers as Pavlov's dogs and leave mobile market at all

A dual screen seems nice and all. But why does the secondary screen also seem to have a notch??!!

Anonymous, 23 Oct 2019Samsung Galaxy Fold is way way much better in terms of hard... moreComparing them both, maybe. But as a device alone the galaxy fold is more like a flawed design. Samsung is a pioneer in technology and they make great displays and hardware. But instead of changing the design or finding a workaround they are still clinging to that by relaunching it again and again as if they are trying really hard to convince others about the tech. Well can't blame them since they had to atleast gain something in return for the effort they put towards all that. But seriously they need to rethink the whole foldable displays a bit more.

Yes, good innovation. Started by Samsung and huawei desktop mode. But the main hamstring is Google's android OS.

They should have invested in multi-display mode long time ago. Instead of blindly copying Apple's gimmicks.

Samsung Galaxy Fold is way way much better in terms of hardware and software, I don't even care if you disagree at least I know which is beauty and beast.

Ray, 23 Oct 2019Can we get it without the dual screen accessory?Check out the G8. LG didn't make a Dual Screen accessory for that, but you get pretty much the same feature as its 5G counterpart, the V50. You even get a choice between dual wide/ultrawide or triple wide/telephoto/ultrawide camera combo depending on where you live.

Definitely love the practical appeal of the Dual Screen accessory, but the lack of native telephoto camera really make me think twice. Sure I can get the V50 5G, but the Dual Screen accessory for it don't share the same screen as one another, thus spoiling the seamless uniform usage of it.
