Anonymous, 28 Oct 2019Nobody buys 5 year old phones. Huge improvements happen in... moreLots of people buy 5 year old phones. Look at the Facebook Marketplace, GumTree and you'll see people selling iPhone 5 and 6 for decent money.

In fact, you can still get iPhone 6, brand new, on contract from all the major carriers in the UK, basically for free with a 12 month contract.

So, yeah, people still buy 5 year old iPhones, but they do not buy Samsung S4 or Note 4 that came out the same time.

LOL well done GSMArena and Ivan you got the fan boys angry and frothing at the mouth ;)

The comments are rolling in :D

Marvin, 28 Oct 2019You get 2 years of support. 3rd is BS because carriers will... moreUnlocked devices get 3 years of software support, I was comparing unlocked devices, you too compared unlocked devices . Carrier deal phones cost less and wouldn't cost $450/year you quoted. Since price varies, I can't compare their prices as easily as on unlocked devices. So I was talking about unlocked devices, you too were talking about unlocked devices and then you bought strawman to beat it. Pathetic.

iPhone might be a good deal in carrier but Note 10+ is good deal in unlocked world. And that's what many (and most of the) people buy.

I am an ardent galaxy Note user. The main issue with all Notes are the slow updates. Tortoises can be faster than OS updates from Samsung - believe me. The Note being Samsung's flagship deserves very fast OS updates for a minimum of three years....please Samsung

Kangal, 28 Oct 2019I was quoting the article, and showing it is wrong. I did n... moreThere's far too much that makes no sense here. First of all, putting the headphone jack inside the SPen is a rather stupid idea, especially if you want to use the Pen while listening to audio (quite common?). There's is really no need to change the aspect ratio to 16:9 or 21:9. In fact, 21:9 ratio is much much weirder than 19:9 on a phone. Whereas 16:9 will hurt one handed use, as it'd have to be a lot wider, or otherwise would make the screen far shorter. Furthermore, OIS for ultrawide camera is really not needed (coming from someone who actually uses it). The short focal lenght makes it easier to shoot longer exposures, just as OIS does. Except it'd take up more space and hence you'd have an inferior camera overall, all for that unnecessary OIS (unnecessary for UW, anyway).

I see plenty of facts in this article.

However it still feels like a cheap advertisement.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2019iPhones get more than 2 OS updates. Let alone timely bug fi... moreMan keep your iPhone but never buy any Samsung phone. If you want android there are many better alternatives available. Go for OnePlus. It provides 3 year of system updates. It has light user interface and never lag.

[deleted post]I was quoting the article, and showing it is wrong. I did not say it meant the best, but to teach you some proper English; the term "no compromise" is interchangeable with the term "best". So even in your own point you are wrong.

The fact is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is NOT a "no compromise" device. It compromises on at least durability (its slippery and fragile), it compromises on software (fewer updates and slow rollout), it compromises on audio (No Headphone Jack, loudspeaker isn't very loud). Not to mention the compromises to its design (notch hole), compromises to its display (weird aspect ratio, only 60Hz), compromises to its performance (especially Exynos), and the compromises to its security (bad facial unlock, flawed fingerprint scanner).

To answer the dilemma, we should be asking what would make the Note10+ a no-compromise phone in 2019 ?? Here's how:
                  - Keep things the same size roughly
                  - Add the Headphone Jack (maybe inside the S Pen?)
                  - Add two Slim Bezels on either end for front-speakers, no notch
                  - Change the 19:9 screen to a 16:9 or 21:9 screen
                  - Upgrade the display to a 120Hz unit, Flat display to install Glass Protectors
                  - Change the housing to either Aluminium-Polycarbonate or Titanium-Kevlar
                  - Increase performance to UFS 3.0, and QSD 855+
                  - Upgrade the box charger to a 60W SuperVOOC charger
                  - Boost battery life a bit higher, use a 4500mAh battery
                  - Increase photography by using a larger Main Sensor, Add OIS to ultrawide, boost Zoom from x2 to a x5-x6 amount

...do all of that, and charge 1,500 Euros, and at least I will defend and justify the price. But as it is, it's a great device, but it has compromises, and there are other alternatives. So the price is not justifiable. Just like how I could justify the price of say a VW Golf R for 60,000 Euros, you cannot justify the same price for a VW Golf GTi or say a Mazda 3 or Hyundai i30.

[deleted post]I have a OnePlus 7 Pro as a daily driver, the screen is fantastic but there's very little effect from the 90Hz screen. I also have the Razer Phone 2 (now sold) and ASUS RoG Phone 2, both phones have a 120Hz refresh rate. There is a very very noticeable smoothness.

The brightness and contrast is almost equivalent between the two. Yet because of that factor, the RoG Phone 2 clearly has a better display than the Samsung S10/Note10. The jump from 60Hz to 120Hz is very welcoming. I don't care for the 90Hz feature much to be honest. And it's not just me, majority of people who have used it, agree the ASUS RoG Phone 2 currently has the best display in the market. Maybe you should have some humble pie?

You'll say not Samsung's fault. Yes. All Android's fault.
