Weekly poll results: Pixel 4 XL somewhat makes up for the lackluster Pixel 4

27 October 2019
Neither received adoration from potential buyers, but the XL scored much higher than the small one - and it seems to be about the battery.

The only thing that good in Pixels is Google camera app. Price you s insane, 64 GB storage... Really? Ugly design. Gimmicks that doesn't work. Outdated CPU. Once again - for insane price.

Google's hardware division always seem to copy all the worst aspects of the iPhone and none of the positives, and then charge Apple prices for whatever half-baked product they end up with.

I guess the perfect Android flagship phone would be Mate 30 Pro with Android One OS...

I'm not into the XL size but it's clear to me the bigger model is the one to get this time. It's similar to the 2 XL if you wanted a better design, panda option, and longer bsttery life even though the LG display was awful.

I will never buy an iPhone again. I'm done with iOS and anything to do with Apple on the mobile side. I will stick to Apple computers. With that said, a better buy this year is the $699 iPhone 11 over the $799 Pixel 4. A little taller and 11 Pro is the smaller one with the matte frosted glass back. But the 11 is the best buy for this season. It competes well against the OnePlus.

Save the $300 and get iPhone 11. I would recommend it over the unreleased SE2. The SE2 is basically the 11 in an 8 body. Smaller but still uses the same Lightning Connector and less RAM. You won't get Face ID or the gesture swipes. I'd rank it like this in terms of interest for my taste...

          iPhone 12 ("5.4)
          iPhone 11
          iPhone SE2
          iPhone 11 Pro

The "5.4 iPhone will give me the size I want and USB-C but it will likely cost $999 again to replace the 11 Pro size. The 11 is a little taller but it will offer the X-series design that the 8 won't. The SE2 will offer the size of the 8 and upcoming "5.4 iPhone 12 but it's that old design I don't want even if it's $300 cheaper than an 11. The 11 strikes the right balance of the newer iPhone design and price. Oh yeah, and battery life is great on it. Legendary like the XR.

The Pixels have always had bugs, nothing major, but plenty of small annoying ones. Bugs that you don't see on flagship Sony, Samsung, LG, Motorola and Nokia devices. However, that's the price you pay to get fast updates = less quality control. Overall, this is bad for their image. And you can already tell by the lack of repeat customers.

The Pixel 1/XL was pretty awkward, you got a much better phone going with a Samsung S7-Exynos, LG G6, Moto Z Force, ZTE Axon7, or even the OnePlus 3/3t. Google really peaked with the Pixel 2XL, where it was somewhat competitive against the likes of the Samsung S8+, LG V30, Sony XZp, Moto Z2 Force. It just went downhill since then.

Based on Google's attitude, the Pixel 5/5XL will also be a disappointment.

I don't like the news title..... :( It should be like: Google failed the market this year and have no clue of what people want from a phone.

The biggest problem with the Pixel series is that they're always behind the competition. If they want to succeed, then they really need to nail the Pixel 5 series. A versatile camera setup, a big battery on both models, more RAM, larger base storage + multiple storage options, better design, no software-infused limitations (4k@60fps, 90hz@75%brightness, etc), a reliable unlocking method, and general upgrades in specs. If they can do that much, they have a fair shot at it, otherwise they'll continue to fade out.
