Reason behind Pixel 4's 90Hz mode issues discovered in code commit comments

25 October 2019
There's an issue that occurs when switching between 60Hz and 90Hz and it's most noticeable when the screen brightness is low.

LG after V30 is making a good display, talk about V40 or even G8 that has the first sound on display in the smartphone market , and you saying there are bad , lg is still a trendsetter just look after the g8 how many companies followed with that tech then

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2019Sounds like a gimmick absolutely no one asked for. I mean s... moreit's for efficiency making your phone last longer in case you didnt understand.. Now calculate it, if you are using your phones only for reading or watching pics, the display is the most battery consuming here, when reading the display are mostly idle images, this feature reduce from 120hz down to 1 hz, this can save your battery. And I have tried this feature, i can save my battery and lasted longer at least 2-3 hours in a day. But if I use specifically only for reading and watching gallery or any activities with many idle images, the battery consumption is significantly reduced, 2hours battery consumption (with normal mode) can be equivalent 2,5-3hours if this mode enabled. No one asked this? well, people are screaming they want their phone last longer, this feature can accommodate them.
As for the engine start-stop feature, while you mocking this feature, now many car manufacturer adopting this worldwide, of course they have calculated this alternator wear factor (only in more expensive cars), the main purpose is not for "ecology" purpose, but the manufacturer can claim their products can reduce gas emission and fuel consumption to meet international standards, and I use 'start-stop engine' only for analogy how energy consumption can be reduced, not to discuss alternator wear out.

And they think their phone can get the attention it needs through their exclusive software features which does NOT. I never purchased a pixel phone ever because they have nothing special and too pricey also for offering just a software exclusivity.

As for those start stop functions on cars, they wear out the tiny alternator so in the end you're making your alternator wear out much faster just for those seconds of engine shut off for muh "ecology".

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2019How the heck are you supposed to use any screen operating at 1Hz?it's sharp's software, they switched to 1hz when the image is idle like when reading or watching photos, depending on apps or content, just like the new car feature where the engine stop when car is stopped but turn on again when moving
