Astrophotography on my Mi 9 is excellent, I just need to ride/drive a little to find a higher spot than my home and a clear sky.

Looking forward to a Samsung exynos port, the note 10 camera is very good but even with gcam 5.2 the images are so much better, much more refined algorithms at work and way less post processing, if astrology could be past of the phone mod that would be awesome

This is one if the moments where I just love android. With the help of dev vommunities, older phones can get another breath of life after getting neglected from their original manufacturer.

XDA developers are wonderful. They've pulled off some impressive feats throughout their existence.

Be aware that modding and releasing such an app might be illegal. Google's camera is not open source and it even has copy protection. When you installed Google's camera app on a non-Google phone in the past, HDR+ couldn't be enabled due to the copy protection, which identifies whether you use a Google phone. The developers disable the copy protection.

I want a port for the Essential Phone. I love the GCam port that added Night Sight for it last year. Maintain similar features to my Pixel 3.
