So if a certain app are bringing down your battery life, it's the ad to blame, not the app itself.

Microsoft doing an Android study ? =))

Even so, the apps consume insignificant power, usually is the display hogging the battery.

I do not recomend to anyone to leave the GPS turned off. That's the way my 2 months old SGS2 went in a journey after I left it in a taxi. And it never came back. Now I'm waiting to buy the SGS3 even when the GNote and the GNexus keep blinking an eye to me "buy me" "buy me". But I'm stronger :'s

[deleted post]80% of users have no such important business, and they afford the luxe of missing some stupid email or comment on facebook. if you are a very succesful business man on wall street, yes you MUST keep all connections available any second. but 80% of smartphone users are a bunch of wankers wich play angry birds, speaking cat, useless activities. so they can shut down all connections to keep the battery alive 3 days. my sgs 2 ,my iphone 4, my actual nokia n9, all stay in stanby 3 days with ALL OFF and 1 day with ALL ON.

It seems like a good way to make people buy the games.
How much battery time will increase without the ads? If someone experimented.

Useless. That's not a solution. By that logic you could cure an itchy scalp by decapitating the patient and asking him to carry his own head around in a bag. Smartphones are FOR internet access. When you turn it off it turns into a gigantic lump of semi-useless junk. Shouldnt have to miss an email because you want to play Angry Birds.

tbh, ads in applications is a bad idea anyway. As soon as i notice one, i uninstall the crap. I see enough ads on a daily basis. gtfo my phone.

I have a HTC EVO 3D and a friend have a Sensation and we both had the same issue: horrible battery life -around 6-7 hours of moderate usage-.
But after we put the Brightness on Auto, turned off the GPS and set the network to GSM or WCDMA only (NOT AUTO GSM/WCDMA) the battery life improved in a spectacular way!
My standard HTC EVO 3G configuration now is : Brigthness Auto, GPS off, Network GSM (not 3G) and WIFI ON (I have wireless data at work and home). When i don't have WiFi acces and i need faster internet for more than usual updates (weather, FB, Twitter etc) i switch between 2G(GSM) and 3G(WCDMA)-it takes 30 sec. max-. The result is that in the evening i have 60-70% of the battery left!! that count as a 2 days 2 days and a half autonomy!
                                  Hope I helped.
PS: If you turn of data..of course the life of the battery will improve further..but I want data so this is the best compromise for me.
