Sonu4678, 15 Nov 2019People here only make a big fuss if Apple/Samsung copies a ... moreYou know why? Because of their high prices which they claim parts of which are allocated to R&D. And didn't you notice that they usually "copy" on a later model launches then tag them as "innovations" e.g. multi cameras, finger print sensors, notch etc.

Camera in the back is way too low. It should be in the upper part of the phone.

s-pen pusher, 16 Nov 2019the "protruding bottom chin" is a trademark from the origin... moreI know the Razr V3's design. My point is that, it's an old design and hugely limits the bottom panel's thumb movement. The design and the price were more of a tribute to the nostalgia and not being a practical smartphone for everyday use in which I would say I understand that it was never meant for mass production.

Carol, 16 Nov 2019The question is, did you even read what i said? I never sai... moreI've read it, I've read it all and I would say that you're contradicting your own statement. You just said that "I never said it's the same" is being contradicted in your own paragraph, by using the word "clone", well unless if you don't know the meaning of the word "clone". lol. IF that is a clone, it would never be patented.

You talk like you're bigger than the patenting regulators even suggesting that you would only "patent" a company's name? Names are being TRADEMARKED and NOT patented. You, talking nonesense without understanding a certain topic does not warrant you to disrespect the company and its buyers. In fact, the other way around would be better, if not best.

DroidBoye, 15 Nov 2019Improving a base design is still considered a good practice... moreThe question is, did you even read what i said? I never said is the same, i said is based on others creations, is a BIG difference, and yeah i read the artikle and am still amazed how a clone company can even be taken seriously. The only thing i would let them patent would be their name, the rest is already another phone. And yeah as you can see, i have no respect for this company, and for it's buyers...and will never have. I respect companies that actually did something and got on their feet by hard working and innovating and risking, not by stealing and cloning.

Sonu4678, 15 Nov 2019People here only make a big fuss if Apple/Samsung copies a ... morei had the same mindset before, but i have since looked over this with xiaomi simply because they are so far the only oem that offers the proverbial "bang for buck" with their devices. oppo's realme is catching up, but still xiaomi is still the budget king.

i can't say the same for the rest of the chinese oems as well as apple and samsung. they charge premium for their devices for the reason that they allocate budget for r&d, design, and marketing; they indeed would get the flak if they copy from others even with just mere design element.

i still buy flagship devices, although not from samsung and apple anymore, but since last year i have been fascinated by xiaomi's offerings. i actually am tempted to get an iphone 11 pro max at the moment because of its camera prowess, but i am holding off because of the fact that apple is a greedy company. i bought a galaxy note 10 plus a few months back but i have promised not to keep a flagship samsung device for long unless they have a flat screen, so i sold it after a little more than a month.

Carol, 15 Nov 2019Wow after a long cloning apple business and stealling techn... morethey have been cloning apple's design indeed, but as far as technology is concerned xiaomi has not stolen any- it licenses it. apple, on the other hand, copies techonology from others then rafines/improves it a bit and then call it their own.

DroidBoye, 15 Nov 2019You mean Motorola's hideous design with protruding bottom C... morethe "protruding bottom chin" is a trademark from the original razr phone- the v3. at least motorola made good use of the chin in this reincarnation- they have used big speakers and some important components were placed there to give room to the battery.

Not sure why Xiaomi is competing to make the ugliest foldable, but go ahead.

All these folding designs from all OEMs lose one essential point to a folding phone. One should be able to use it as a compact phone that fits in one hand to make phone calls and type quick texts. And fold it out for more immersive large screen experience like reading or watching. Right now, all foldables are simpy glorified clamshell phones without a keyboard. You finally have to open it in full for even the basic functionality.

Carol, 15 Nov 2019Wow after a long cloning apple business and stealling techn... moreLol I don't think you get the basis on which technology is built. Technological advancement means to build upon what exists and refine it, until it hits the ceiling. It means not reinventing the wheel. It means to focus all your resources where they can be most effective.

The same concept carries through science, academia, medicine, and of course, recreational technology. "Ideas" cannot and should never be copyrighted. It would massively stifle innovation and technological advancement.

yawn. I'll believe it when I see it.

Carol, 15 Nov 2019Wow after a long cloning apple business and stealling techn... moreYou can moan all you want. Xiaomi will put there good cameras, bigger battery and a more powerful SoC at half price with a better clamshell. Then people will be happy to buy it at half or even less (1/3) of the price that those overpriced phones from Lenovorola, HMD-crapkia, rebranded shit with HTC logos, etc.

YUKI93, 15 Nov 2019Only Chinese would copy what the others had done. That is s... moreYou should know that the clam shell form factor is not new.

And no, this is not similar to the RAZR at all. The chin is what makes the RAZR a RAZR. This also has a different camera-solution btw and no notch. The RAZR 2019 is a retro-inspired phone, and I think it looks great as such. I still have my old RAZR V3 and and RAZR2 V8, but missing my V3x which I regret selling.

Generally speaking this is a notchless, tri-bezelless foldable device. Which makes this the first of its kind.

Carol, 15 Nov 2019Wow after a long cloning apple business and stealling techn... moreImproving a base design is still considered a good practice. Even in Academe, we use old researches as basis for improvement under Review of Related literature. IF this is an exact same copy of an existing patent then the patent wouldn't be approved at all. Did you even read the article? The patent was submitted last August 2018.

AnonD-863872, 15 Nov 2019a patent? I thought motorola already made a phone like this. You mean Motorola's hideous design with protruding bottom Chin? LOL. I wouldn't say that this is a copy, more like an overall improved design.

Well here it comes or goes.
In present 2 years all folding phones will be a bit expensive but as the technology will ascend and people finds out how to solve bad things on theses foldable devices or clamshes we can get a pretty great looking and usefull device.
                                    Lets wait and see.
