26 March, 2012
If chosen, anyone could use the design in their devices without having to pay Apple the licensing fees.

Royalty free yes, but still need permission from that b@st@rd. What if that b@st@rd stop giving permission say to Samsung for just any bad reason..?

"This proves that at least Apple is in this just to establish a new SIM standard that is smaller (and therefore better) rather than trying to make money off it
        ..........so far.

I wouldn't trust Apple as far as I could throw them. They wouldn't do this unless they had a long term plan.

its not about trusting Apple. Nokia's design is better, its as simple as that. And that's why i think Apple is trying to get the patent by giving it free uses.

Sure.. Mobile companies will be offered a royalty-free license to use the nano-sim in their phones.

              But how about the carriers?

Apple is so good a money-making schemes that it doesn't easily share new technologies for free. Who knows, they might charge a royalty PER SIM made, or offer free but with only limited SIM features (except iPhones), or even restrictions on SIM card usage...

Oh, Apple... What are you up to this time?

I do not trust Apple. They have never thought about the customers. If they want to change the size of SIMs, it is absolutely about their internal strategy.

Actually, Nokia's version is smaller and better because there is no tray to put the sim card into.

Apple's design is flawed and doesn't take into account what could happen if stuck.

I trust Apple about as much as I would trust someone who offered me a £3 note. It may be free now but I would bet money it won't be later.

Lol, no way in the world I would trust Apple now. They might say that it's free now. But in the future they will say that the free licence was only for phones that aren't using GSM communications. And this would be like "Give us 15$ per device with GSM communication or we will sue You" haha. It's funny now, but the sad part it's probable as hell...

Apple will make this standard not to save a space but maybe it will have some specifications allows Aplle to spy and getting easily more informations about the user (do u remember Apple's spying issues)
EVEN this micro-SIM IS HARD TO HOLD IT

this is madness and maybe just a way of getting the limelight. The space saved on simcards ia much much less than the space we lose on larger batteries. Let them invest on smaller more powerful batteries, not simcards. To make matters worse apple are leading the pack in battery size growth causes by their high res screens in the ipad i.e ipad3

Its good to see that apple are still trying to lead the way! And the compition from nokia is good aswell! Although i think we all know that nokia would charge royalties to other companies if there design is chosen.
