You can try to apply that all you want by even when compared an f1.7 1/2.55 sensor to f3.5 on aps-c falls behind. A full frame improves this greatly but in no way would be superior or even come close with f8 or f9.
Even with full frame or even medium format if i was stuck with f8 or f9 i would be severely disappointed and inconvenienced. Especially in low light.

In the very earliest of those days yes most of their devices were the cheaper flips. But they had their good ones and that early time frame didnt last long.

The biggest con of the last 20 or so years to me is how quickly people jumped on the "cheapo mobile phone" train. I've grown up in times of Nokia's, Ericsson's, Siemens', Motorola's, and Sony's height of glory when Samsungs were those weird, blocky, wannabe-rich-looking clamshells with appalling battery life and inferior features. If only we would not succumb to them and rather would support the "traditional" manufacturers... Who knows what could have been if they wouldn't close the shop or sell it to some devil's granny (excl. Sony which is nigh to failure though, and - to some degree - also Nokia before the axing of Lumia development). I sorely miss my Siemens M35i, Ericsson T65s, and Nokia E52 :( Those were phones for people. Today's feature phones are an utter farce and I could count the current smartphone manufacturers which I would buy from on a VERY clumsy lumberjack's one hand :/

I'd say that for many people, Android flagships have lost the remaining appeal with the axing of XZ Compact line. So Apple truly may have some chance to snatch at least a few of those people if it would introduce some compelling device(s) - be it "SE2" in the form of an iPhone 8 with internal upgrade in spring or the rumoured 5,44" September device... Sure, price isn't low (and certainly pales in comparison with Chinese brands) but iPhones notoriously come with a certainty of 5 years of software updates and almost negligible ageing in terms of interface fluidity (let's just not jinx it).

Anonymous, 22 Nov 2019Crop factor of 1/1.33" is less than 4. No, far by a long stretch. Somewhere between f/8 and f/9 equivalent.

Instead of making s11e smaller than what the s10e already is, samsung decides to make it bigger. NOPE. End users don't want that. I'm on standby for a whole year now for samsung to release a same dimension-material and ip rating flagship or a true successor to my 3 year old good serving a3 2017.I don't want a device above 135mm of height in my hand, period. If Samsung doesn't want to adress this I'm switching sides when 5.4" apple releases.

S11e not to have a high refresh display? I sense some disappointment for the whole line - S11e not having 120Hz, S11 with 1440p@120Hz will probably have a pretty bad battery life (just look how much better Note10's battery life is with that 1080p screen, compared to S10). Meanwhile the S11+ will be just too huge at 6.9".

vrvly, 22 Nov 2019Anything out of focus is bokeh and having bigger sensor and... moreSensors of this size cannot blur whole background unless lenses are f0.6 or bigger. And this using apropriated focal length. All it will do is blur the edges.
This is why you point a 2x to someone and nothing happens until you select portrait mode.

Artificial blur. Reason parts of body are cut by blur like hair, shoulders and ears and fingers.
Even using ToF the same issues happen.

Tech sites should tech what crop factor is. Iphone using 1/2.55" + f1.8 is like Full Frame pair with "f 11.34" lens. This is why phones are awful at night.
The zoom of Samsung and Sony is equivalent to "f 19,5" ....

                                http://photoseek.com/2013/compare-digital-camera-sensor-sizes-full-frame-35mm-aps-c-micro-four-thirds-1-inch-type/

Check this board. Devide diagonal of FF per sensor you want to find crop factor. Then multiple per f of the phone lens to find FF equivalent.

Considering sensors of phones are 4:3, you need at least 44MP 4:3 for 8K.
Also if the maker says it does not make 8K, there is nothing the user can do about.

Definitely getting an iPhone 11 if those screen sizes turned out to be true. Samsung will lose a lot of fans if they choose to go over 6.0 inches with all the versions of the S11. I'll immediately get the iPhone 11 pro with 5.8 inches screen then.

There might be a mistake. S11e must be smallest of all three models. So ideally S11e would have smaller screen than S11 e.g 5 8 or 6.0
