Why does iOS need so much RAM?? Wasn't it supposed to be very 'optimised'

Anonymous, 24 Nov 2019Numbers? So im just supposed to pick up a random number tha... moreNo, you need numbers that come from a reliable source. If you want to tell me an issue is widespread you better come with actual facts, give us numbers/a percentage of people affected otherwise you are doing nothing but spewing a whole lot of hearsay. For example if a car has a recall due to an issue there is usually a figure given of how many are affected if it’s widespread. When an exploit is revealed in Android there is a number given of how many users are potential affected.

You are just here talking endlessly about a problem being widespread yet nothing to back up as to how widespread it is, how many users/devices are affected and what exact devices are affected.

If you don’t have any figures to backup your claims then there’s nothing wrong with admitting that you have not got a clue and are speaking from nothing but hearsay. The truth will set you free.

You on the other hand claim that issues are wide spread, you talk about articles that don’t quantify anything, you don’t give any numbers. Seeing as you are taking the stance of speaking for these other users, please provide the number of people affected, as YOU are claiming it is widespread surely YOU have the numbers and percentages of those affected, yeah? Please provide them, otherwise your argument is useless.

I am thoroughly enjoying both my iPhone XS Max and iPad Air 2, and not facing any issues with them.

Could you please provide us with the following:
                - The number of users affected per iOS device
                - The issues faced per iOS device
                - How widespread this is exactly, seeing as you claim it’s widespread, please give us a number of those affected vs those not affected per device

Thanks. Looking forward to a full an factual read from your stats. That’s if you have any.

It assumes both that nothing else is running, and that the entire 4GB is required. At the least iOS and the camera app are using a reasonable chunk of RAM that doesn’t need to be duplicated across each of your doublings. It also doesn’t account for compression gains due to 1/120 frames being even more similar to each other than 1/60 frames.

As an example for comparison, my Essential PH-1 with no messenger apps, email accounts, or SIM, averages slightly over half of its RAM in use while idle.

Apple needs to make the iPhone SE2 with an iPhone 5 body, the iPhone 8 is still too big. As an Android user, I would ditch Android in a heartbeat if Apple offered a reasonably sized phone again. I'm sick of all the phablets that have saturated the market and there's simply no choice anymore.

First most androids are more advanced in software on many fronts from day one and out of box than an iPhone is after its last update.
Not to mention what this past update experience shows how the past many years have been with updates. Bug ridden rushed betas that you cant even revert from. And it would take many patches to fix.
And for a 5ish year period lead the world with most app crashes.
And the battery and ram that you all claimed was not needed are being bogged down with them. And even storage for a longer while.
And most if this is only being rectified with what? More storage, faster cpu, and more ram.
