Flip phones is probably the most stable form for foldables. The form should make a comeback after being absent for most of the 2010s. It's a copycat industry. Everyone will eventually do them. Even Apple.

Anonymous, 24 Nov 2019Looks nicer than the RAZR, but the Galaxy Fold makes more s... moreGalaxy gold does not make sense. It will die and for a good reason. Nobody wants or needs an ugly phone that doubles as an ugly tablet. Those all in ones only work when they are actually better than the things they replace. A bit of how the original iPhone replaced the ipod, the palmtops (of old) and the cellphone because it was better than each of them individually.
Huawei's design is the closest to the future but even it comes with issues. But is at least the right direction. An s shaped 3-fold would in fact be the future. Open up, a 3mm thin, 10 incher of a tablet. Fold it a 6inch bezels phone (still only 9cm thin).
Sadly the tech is not there but it is basically where art expects things to go to too (Westworld's phablets basically).
The clamshell design may survive too for those who like tiny devices...

Looks nicer than the RAZR, but the Galaxy Fold makes more sense. Samsung designed a foldable that's easy to use and hold in one hand, but can be unfolded for media consumption when needed. The RAZR and other clamshell designs are just as awkward to use folded as they are folded due to the width the phone, so offers no advantage.
