Low discounts bundles that combine games of various quality isn't the way to go. Hardware is discounted just $50, which doesn't help either.

On outside-in headsets cameras are only used for passthrough video AFAIK and they can be disabled, so really it's no different from having a webcam or a tablet lying around.

        "can't afford a VR system"... VR is no more expensive than a decent quality monitor. Actually, I paid more for my main monitor that for my VR setup.

        "expensive PC"... I'm generally doing quite OK (but not spectacular) with a quite old system. i7 4770K, 8GB RAM, and GTX1060. Hardly even a remotely expensive system by today's standards. How would you be able to play any recent game with a slower system than that?

        "don't have the space"... Those "most people" you refer to... Would that be kids still living in their parents' basement? Most adults I know wouldn't have problems finding space for VR gaming. I use my living room. I just move a table temporarily while playing.

        "space for [...] HTPC"... You know that it stands for Home Theatre PC, right? Why would you need a special HTPC for VR? And, BTW, why would that take up more space than any other PC?

        "cameras in their house"... Most VR system sold currently use inside-out tracking with cameras in the headset itself. Only Valve Index still uses the lighthouses.

        "like to play and comunicate with people in the same room"... You know that screen gaming won't go anywhere, right? You can still have some fun with friends with e.g. a Playstation on the TV. It's not either-or. And that you can't share a headset like a screen doesn't in any way detract from all the other things VR is great for. It's like saying a motorcycle is bad because it can't transport a large number of people in the way a bus can.

        "don't like strapping a helmet on their head for hours with a bright screen an inch or two away from their naked eyeballs"... I'm noticing a trend here. You constantly mention "people" but never yourself. How can you speak on behalf of other people in such general statements? Or is it just a convenient way to make something look bad without having to point to any personal experience? If you want to generalise you need to refer to solid research. Otherwise it's - at best - just anecdotal "evidence". Speak for yourself. Let us know your personal story and experience on the matter. I you haven't got any, your opinions are pretty much invalid and irrelevant to others.

My post was a reaction to the generalised statement that "VR itself is a joke". Judging by your post I think you're pretty much agreeing with me on the point that VR itself is actually pretty great. The current level of support from the major game developers is a different discussion, which is irrelevant in this context but definitely relevant in a different one.

          Anyway, to me 'AAA' is just three letters - I really don't care what type of letters are assigned to the games I play. I'm having great fun with those currently available, and with a steadily growing market it's only going to be better in the future.

Oh yeah... you don't. You're one of those people content to play Beat Saber and Arizona Sunshine ad nauseum. Good for you. That's not the vast majority of gamers.

            I almost certainly have owned more VR headsets than you have (6 different headsets and pairs of 3 of them). I would definitely prefer to play ANY game in VR if I had the choice, as would my wife. However, I'll take a 4K HDR playthrough of RDR2 over ANY currently available VR game, as would the vast majority of the gaming public.

            VR = no AAA IP
            VR = no eSports
            VR = big $$$ for extremely limited gameplay experiences

              Elgsdyr, 29 Nov 2019That people can't see the wonder of BEING in the world of a... moreProbably because most people have a life, can't afford a VR system + expensive PC to play it, don't have the space for a VR or HTPC setup, don't like the idea of having a bunch of cameras in their house, like to play and comunicate with people in the same room or can't afford 2+ VR headsets, and don't like strapping a helmet on their head for hours with a bright screen an inch or two away from their naked eyeballs....... yes it's something you won't understand.

                      YUKI93, 29 Nov 2019VR itself is a joke, I never understand the appeal of it de... moreThat people can't see the wonder of BEING in the world of a game instead of watching a flat video feed on a screen despite "trying it multiple times" is something I'll never understand. I've had VR for two years now and I hardly play anything else. 200+ hours of simracing (which VR is amazing for) in Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally. 127 hours in Skyrim VR (still playing) - never cared for the original game but the experience of being in Skyrim myself changed everything for me. Almost 100 amazing hours of exploring the underwater world of Subnautica - again being there myself. Among several handfuls of other great games. Flatscreen gaming has its place for some types of games, but for me VR is definitely here to stay. And I know I'm not alone in this so calling it a joke seems pretty much off the mark to me.

                        How about something worse, no deal at all.

                          A book store chain here held such killer promotions.

                          They offered a whopping 1 cent off a book's price.

                            VR itself is a joke, I never understand the appeal of it despite trying it multiple times.
