my point is...yes...RIM is on a decline...but that does not necessarily mean they will be out of the ballgame in the next few years. Remember...they have a stronghold on the corporate world. i work w/ on one of australia's carrier and 87% of the Business Prosumer account including SMB uses BB. The remaining percantage is held by iOS, WP and Symbian. oh...and 2% was for android

Stick to what you like and quit bitching about something you have no idea about or will ever use.
I wonder how you will feel when Samsung starts using qnx in couple of years. Still be blah blah blah lol

I would be thoroughly depressed if RIM goes bust. Stop making tablets, stop making full on touchscreens. Apple is king and everyone knows, just release QWERTY keyboards, its the only selling point of BB.

"I have had a Bold 9000 since 2008. NEVER had a querty/keyboard issue! Only thing I have had replaced ONCE is the trackball. My volume control is off a bit, apart from that have not had any issues."
That seems to me that you have had issues with your blackberry.Worst phone ever for reliabilty the 9300s are terrible and need dumped into the middle of the atlantic.Ok ithere secure blah blah blah but if they keep going faulty then that theory goes stright out the window.

BB's had a lot of good things going for them - like the QWERTY (BB still has the best keyboard hands down), security and robust call features.
But its the sheer arrogance of the morons at RIM's board that's causing all of this to fall on their face.
Nokia had this same problem a couple of years ago. And while I'm not sure if WP7 solved it, at least they woke up and realized they had to change something fast.
About time RIM did too.
Or else they're gonna end up like Palm - dead and forgotten.

Rim should reduce the prices of their handsets and the Blackberry services.. Also, their handsets doesnt even compete with the features of Android and Iphone's but the prices are almost similar...THey should focus on increasing the features on the phone.. The approx cost of BOLD 4 is similar to Galaxy Note ... Y would a person buy a Bold 4 ??
Galaxy Note has more features better screen, better connectivity almost everything you can imagine..
The only plus point of Blackberry is their email and im service with their own server... which has kept me still with bb...

Nobody cares about Blackberry any more. It's crappy interface, small screen, lack of apps and expensive. Not worth a penny. It should be sold out to Samsung.
They are too late for BB10, its not worth investing. They will be out of market soon. whatsapp imessage > BBM

I think People don't know how captivating BlackBerry Phones has. It's really a SUPERB smartphone in the world and comparing between that cheap Android Phone it's really FAIL! BlackBerry is just like a mini computer gadget that no one can compete it! Love what you do!

Switching to android won't do BB good. android is not secure as BB OS is.
I would agree on RIM focusing on the corporate market. It's what they are known for and it's their niche ever since. A little innovation for that market will save their A*ses.

I am an Android fan. I have a Motorola Defy. It's an awesome mid priced phone. Its waterproof and can shoot underwater video's. It out specs my cousins high end 9800 Torch in every department except internal memory.I also get 2 days battery life.I hate Apple as a company because of their dubious business practices. However IOS is a good platform and innovates as does Android. I don't like BB.My daughter has one and it's always got some problem. My girlfriend had one and it eventually got smashed against a wall because it was rubbish. She also has a Android phone now and is happy with it.However I feel BB needs to stay in the game as do Nokia (spit) They just need to up the game. Nokia might be on the right path with WP7. Time will tell. The reason I say they need to stay in the game is because IOS and Android need competition. That is what brings about innovation and fresh thinking. Imagine if the smartphones was a 2 horse race. It would become boring and stifled.

I dig that fact that BIS drove a lot of SPs to Drop their data charges, quiet ridiculous even now. but yeah RIM is just another piece of crap company.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2012So it is the media's fault they posted a loss then??Don't twist my words. RIM has made mistakes, no question, but the media has amplified them and created the perception the company is going under - imminently.
AFAIK, until this past quarter RIM has been profitable. But the phone buying public is largely uniformed, and a fair proportion has shunned them for fear they'll disappear /tomorrow/, having seen continual dooming reports in the news.

It will be really sad too here that RIM might go bankrupt. Almost every one in my country has a BB phone and uses BB messaging. I think BB needs to look out side it's OS system and go ANDROID or upgrade it's OS because even the fun at heart and the business minded people like phones that can do everything.

RIM is competing with Android, Apple etc. if both android and apple can offer more that what RIM BB phones can offer, even business minded people like phones that can do everything. IF RIM wants to compete it needs to re think its plans make mobile phones that are customizable, easy to use and on the budget of their clients. BB is losing its ELITE status all over the world.
