Anonymous, 04 Dec 2019Why not have an integrated 865G?Because qualcoom is going to let OEMs make 4G and 5G variants of same device.
Many countries wont start 5G before 2021.
None wants to pay more for something they cannot use.

The new fingerprint sensor is cool.
The 865 sounds like a run-of-the-mill yearly refresh.

sui, 04 Dec 2019Forget about Nokia, let move on.2019 may not be good but 2020 will be Groundbreaking for HMD Nokia. Juho was there at the announcement so he'll announce great phones with SD765 and 865 in mind. Sad that the 6xx series is dead because there's no 680 or 685 to replace 670 and 675.
They should make SD680 and 685/690 to be like 730G and 765G without the AI chip. Like I said before, SD710 for example is the same as SD670/675 and the only difference is AI which is not worth much.

Every year the previos chips are 25% worse than latest new chipsets and yet Xiaomi redmi 8 note pro beats SD845 by few points with a 250 eur phone.

sumdumguy, 04 Dec 2019So a mid-range CPU gets integrated 5G whereas a high-end do... moreMid range got 5G and what? Flagship chip could still run COD Mobile much smoother, with almost up to twice the frame rate and highest graphical quality possible for smartphones.
You worry that you can't reach the insane network speeds of 5G? That sounds as if 4G speeds weren't once "ENOUGH" for you.
With the rise of 5G, 4G plans would be priced less, making them more affordable in the future.
Until I see something useful with 5G that I could never live without, I'd rather settle for 4G's tolerable and usable speed.
But hey, if you think getting the Redmi K30 Pro is better than iPhone 11 Pro Max because of 5G is what you want....can't blame yoi.

kinit, 04 Dec 2019so our 855+ is obsolete next year hahaha
SD855+ is still a good flagship chip. Sure it's delegated to Midrange starting next year but hey, it's obviously stronger than SD765 and it'll get cheaper as time goes by.
Why can't Qualcomm follow the Apple way where they only release one or two (a la A##x chipset) every year and nothing more, and the chipset that was preceded by the new flagship will become a midrange chipset.

The 765 might be the chip I'm most interested by. If that's delivering both an integrated 5G modem and is on 7nm whilst being less powerful than the 865, that's your battery life champion at the high end in 2020 and potentially a chip that could be used in the midrange for multiple years, like some of the 600-series chips have been.

Only information about 5G, and vague references to 865 and 865. Tomorrow or the day after all specs will be disclosed. Unless the 8k and HDR10 is all they got. They also mentioned upto 200MP photos. Need more information on improved photo and video, wired codec acceptance and options, better HDR algorithm pro easing hardware, more frames to play with etc. Plus improvement in battery, longer run periods, power and consumption etc.

kinit, 04 Dec 2019so our 855+ is obsolete next year hahaha So what if 855+ is obsolete? Don't tell me everyone would need to buy another smartphone that runs 865? Especially if they've invested on a smartphone that has a reliable processor like the 855+.

Josephnero, 04 Dec 2019Good step forward but I will wait for SD875. Btw gsmarena ... moreyeah but that's only theoretical value, achieved in some controlled internal test done by Qualcomm themselves. Real life difference will be much less significant. For example, they promised 15% upgrade with Snapdragon 730G over regular 730 but real-life difference in games is closer to 5%.
