Other companies may offer better specs at same price but quality and reliability of these phones can't be compared at this price. I think it's not that overpriced considering prices will fall 20-30 bucks in few months. My only complain is that the A-71 is so damn large. It would not even fit in pocket comfortably. Otherwise it's a solid phone

NickNameNick, 12 Dec 2019Talked about this sort of thing with my friend who works fo... more20% that's what I said. But I guess it's not under 12% also. They also need to regain research cost.
But in some cases, it might be different though. Like new technology or old technology. For a new uncommon tech Samsung might get profit as much as 50% or more. That's very rare. Like foldable display now a days. Bending display a couple years ago. Remember how much Mate Porsche design cost while they used the bending display .
    But generally it's below 20%.
And Samsung provide the best value per money. There is no confusion in that.

This sentence is wrong in many ways. The display isn't so much smaller, it's longer. A display that's not as narrow gets clumsy in terms of operation with one hand, and it's got nothing to do with finger swipes or scrolling.

Most people use their phones in portrait mode the vast majority of the time, so why would you want to be forced into a significantly smaller display whose only advantage is that your need to finger-swipe scroll is lessened by 20%? I mean, when did swiping up with your thumb become hard?

But in EU or US/SK people rely on broadband internet connection mostly. It's reliable, faster and much cheaper compared to cellular data. Which is totally opposite in India.

Buying last year's flagship from OnePlus will give you so much more for your money. However if you're into the pink, blue or different color schemes than this is your phone.

Samsung normally don't release more than 2 or 3 midrange in the US in a year. They mostly rely on flagship there. And be sure that among those 2 or 3 phone if 2 model is 5G, one will use exynos and other SD.
You have a point though. They might release a 5G midrange phone in China soon. But definitely not with Mediatek.
Samsung aren't closing their CPU division.. They are planning to expand it. They won't just make any low end SoC anymore. I think that's what Samsung meant. They didn't mean to use upper midrange mediatek SoC in Samsung phones.

Generally Samsung doesn't use more ... moreWell that's true, Samsung midrange phones usually stick with 2 brands of SoCs. However, 5G adoption is growing rapidly and Samsung doesn't necessarily need to wait for India to launch their 5G phones. Samsung has literally tonnes of markets to choose from. They could still release at US, Korea, China and even SEA. At this moment, its a big race on who gets to make the most affordable 5G phone.

Samsung hasn't announced any of their phones with Exynos 980 and instead vivo X30 became the first. Benchmarks have already shown that the midrange Mediatek is beating the Exynos which is why I have some optimistic views on them (well that is if they use that specific one). By the time the 5G SoCs released, they're definitely a legit upgrade unlike this refresh we have right now.
