Also I have someone in the office using 32bit Win7 OS (thus limiting the ram to 3GB) and it is using mainly for excel and word stuff. The experience is.. well... not good to put it nicely. When you open 1 program or one worksheet, yes, it is fine. But nobody will do just that. They will open multiple worksheet and open some docs and PDF.
Of course for people that are more knowledgeable, they probably can be careful with the RAM limitation, but to regular people they don't care. They expect everything to work flawlessly.
As for Android, it is fine with 4GB or even 3GB. I have 2 Android phones that have 3GB of RAM and both are running smoothly. More RAM is mainly used if you use a lot of apps and keep cycling through the apps. Basically you will feel that it is faster when cycling through a lot of apps. Another uses is that if you game a lot, especially the big games. Those game use a lot of RAM and if you don't want your UI or apps to be reloaded after playing those big games, well, yes, you need a lot of RAM. In general, more RAM (especially more than 4GB) is not a necessity, but it is something that can improve the user experience. I will say that 1GB is definitely too low and 2GB should be the minimum even for the low end Android phone.

Honestly Android is just as horrible at RAM management as Chrome... how is it normal to have a midranger with 8-12GB of ram , and you can still use a Windows PC with 4GB ram for normal office tasks , and 8GB to play or do something more complicated ...

Flexible display is an Innovative concept of many years.. Tech giants are just putting it more utilising.. The main credit goes to Xerox PARC for flexible concept and Polymer Vision(Philips) or later Nokia for foldable concept.. Neither Visionox.. The only thing Xiaomi Introduced I think,, a particular fixed shape display..

LCD were there for decades! I'm here not saying Xiaomi is Innovative neither apple was that much, but their Alpha looks way way more futuristic than Apple's whole iPhone lineup.. Even the Mi Mix was one of the first notchless on market..

Geez man. Since when do these things start needing server-like amounts or RAM. 12GB has been done before but even mid-teer phones now are in that bracket...

I like the 12/512 option. I wish they have that option for the K20. Yes, I'm fine with the K20 spec, just want the bigger storage option. Not a fan of K30 because too many useless thing they added there. Of course it could be better if they keep K20 form factor, upgrade the main cam to 64mp, remove the tele (because it will be useless) and they can either add OIS to the main cam + depth cam or add that macro cam (or have 4 cam system like in K30). Of course if they want to upgrade the SoC, that is fine too, but personally I don't really need that. Actually I will be very much fine with just a K20 + 8/256 + remove the tele (replace it with a depth sensor since apparently it will be hard to do it with the wide cam), add OIS to the main cam and price it around $300. I will buy that version of K20 (or the Mi9T equivalent) even if right now I already have the Mi9T. 12/512 option is nice if they can keep it below $400.
Anyway, the good thing with it is that now their mid-high end phone have 512GB option, thus I hope they will revisit the K20 design for the K40 and have 512GB option for it.

[deleted post]True because MIUI is preloaded with intrusive advertising, especially in Asian markets. Of course they do so to offset the prices of their handsets but I wish they didn’t and increase their price slightly. Not to mention adware is bloat that potentially slows down the phone and consumes more data in the background. I will stick to the X2 Pro, it is not preloaded with adware though quite bloated as well.
