And just because the don't sensors tend be a little better means that there others are not good at all or can't"squeeze quality". Let alone the fact Sony can't squeeze as much quality out of their sensors as everyone else....

A high MP sensor that is of the SAME physical size as a low MP sensor will often produce better images after you downsize/pixel binning to the same pixel count. This has been proven even in the old dSLR days.
The only downside would be the higher processing power required for high MP.

(1) It... moreNo. Since S5, the rear camera (main cam now) use exclusive sensors for S and Note. Both isocell and exmor.
Samsung and Sony make many different 12MP 1/2.55" sensors.
S10, iphone 11, pixel 4 and Xperia 5 have different sensors. But all same size and resolution. All dual pixel AF.
Nokia 8 sirocco has S5K2L7 , also used by : Moto G6+, Moto X4, Moto P30, redmi note 6 pro.

I have a few theory about this Bright HMX sensor.
(1) It will be used on the entry-level and mid-level S11, whereas the high-end S11+ would use a custom 108MP with the 9-in-1 Nona Bayer pixel binning.
(2) This sensor might be used on other Samsung devices that isn't the S or Note series. The A series is definitely a high possibility.
(3) It's open for everyone to utilize that sensor. Remember the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 7 plus? The primary wide camera (and also the telephoto camera for that matter) are borrowed from Samsung.
