Anonymous, 18 Dec 2019Wouldnt a large 12 mpix sensor without binning have larger ... moreExactly, this has always been my point, why make 108mp sensor, and then need to reduce it to 12mp later. I don't get it. Common sense is larger pixel = better performance, so why the 0.8 tiny pixels just to arrive at 108mp

Good luck stabilizing that. OP and Huawei are unable to do even with 48mp sensors in a proper manner.

HTC needs to make a SD865 flagship with Sony's future Nona Bayer sensor and market it as UltraPixel again. HTC was the Low-light King with One M7 and One M8 until Huawei took their crown

Is this the first flagship (Apart from Huawei), that is using the Quad Pixel and larger cluster of pixels for better low light and HDR? The 108MP seems absolutely insane. Hopefully Samsung squeezes every last drop of dynamic range, detail and low light from this sensor.

IpsDisplay, 18 Dec 2019How will the de mosaic really be is the question And aga... moreExactly the same way all Bayer Pattern Filter demozaing is done. The only difference is the pixels are larger and have a few wavelengths for each of the 3 (or 4, including white) colours.

stellar low-light performance and dynamic range but not Great detail as a native 1.6 or 2.4 micron pixel sized sensor. And Samsung will definitely produced oil painting like images

Anonymous, 18 Dec 2019Wouldnt a large 12 mpix sensor without binning have larger ... moreTrue. But smaller pixels, especially quad and larger clusters, with varying degrees of brightness (of the same colour's CFA) help with HDR photos have very little issues with moving subjects and also much better in low light HDR.
They should have be superb with upressing, if they perform great algorithms, because you have both high and low res photos, for reference.

Hopefully Ssung has a set of white pixels along with the RGB, as well as redesigned micro lens structure. That alone can even reduce cross talk further, have way better low light capabilities and also faster autofocus.
Looking forward to this Camera Sensor REGARDLESS.

Its nanocell not nonacell.
They have a mistake there.
Because if its a non-a-cell then its no cell.
And no cell cant be considered as a Camera or Camera lens or part of camera aperature.

Wouldnt a large 12 mpix sensor without binning have larger pixels, and thereby better low light performance ?

How will the de mosaic really be is the question
And again the isp isn't optimised in the 865 for Nona only quad CFA
Will the have a dedicated chip to aid it,?
What about focus speeds .. so many questions
Guess I'll know on launch
