Don't tell people to do the math when you yourself can't. Everyone is calling you out for shabby arithmetic, maybe consider that you're the in the wrong here, not the literal entire world except you.

2010: iPhone 4 has literally no competition on Android side in terms of camera, display and app library.
2011: Pretty competitive year with solid Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation and iPhone 4S introducing Siri
2012: Galaxy S3/Note 2 wiped the floor with the competition in 2012. Also in terms of sales.
2013: iPhone 5S made every other Android phone look like something from two generations ago. One M7 was notable for its build quality and G2 for its small bezels but still not in the same league. Shout out to Moto X for software features and Nexus 5 for good value.
2014: iPhone 6 was a bestseller for a reason. S5 was disappointing and One M8 was just bigger One M7. LG G3 with the pointless QHD display deserves a mention. Also OnePlus One was great value if you could get it.
2015: Pretty much every phone that year sucked. HTC One M9 was bad, LG G4 lacked basic features like FP scanner, iPhone 6S didn't change much. Galaxy S6/Edge/+ were the best overall but removed features from S5 like SD card slot and IP rating.
2016: Galaxy S7/Edge nailed it in every aspect. HTC 10 deserves a mention, iPhone 7 removed 3.5mm jack, LG G5 was a dumpster fire. Note 7 was a literal fire. Oneplus 3 was a great alternative to S7.
2017: iPhone X. Period. Greatest paradigm shift since iPhone 4. Shout out to Note 8 and Huawei and Pixel 2XL, arguably the only Pixel that was good.
2018: Very competitive year. XS Max or Note 9 or OnePlus 6T for value offering. Mate 20 honorable mention.
2019: iPhone 11 Pro Max and Note 10+ are super close. OnePlus 7T Pro trails just behind if the camera was a tiny bit better. ROG Phone II excels everywhere but the camera department.
2020: I predict it will again be a toss up between iPhone 12 and Galaxy S20 or whatever they'll call them. OnePlus 8 Pro might be a contender if they finally fix the camera software. Huawei P40 or Mate 40 could make a comeback if they're allowed to use Play Services again.
I've omitted Xiaomi etc because while they make great phones, they don't really have top of the line flagships. Xiaomi often has best value but not best overall.

If I have 100 units of something, I have 10 packs of 10 units. The 100th unit is included in the 10th pack, not in the 11th.

The best phones of the decade were also the last nice,
NORMAL phones ! Like Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5
families, Galaxy Note 4, LG G4, etc.
Then began the *ucking: glass backs, "edge", no card
slots, non-removable batteries and suchlike brainless
Apple imitating.
And this was the END ! The end of the nice, normal
phones, and may be the untimely end of the very
decade itself.

Yes, the last 10 years were really shining for mobile technology. I mean, not even TV's made such BooM! in such a short time. Considering what we can do today thanks to this little thing, it is really surprising. I do believe that mobile technology will keep on moving forward, but the speed would be only able to upkeep with greater prices. Anyway, as of now, I will keep a track of small phones, there is really few of them now :/
Anyway, every device in the article is known to me and I agree, those were really shining examples of the first part. I look forward to the next part, it will be more colourful thanks to new brands coming up to the light and bringing their own innovations.

Meaning that years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 (10 yrs = 1 decade) are the first decade. Meaning, next decade started with the year 11. Do the math. Or maybe YOU shouldn't.
