I seen the 8K content, even if it wont be so fluid and sharp as pro cameras, it will still look awesome. The same as with s slo mo, you will be happy even with 0.1 sec, just for having it.

No low bitrate, no heating issues(especially on phones with built in cooling system)

Real deal professional applications apply some vector tracing to define edges for better quality and more extreme scales. It can go really far.

On vanilla version it spits out 12mp eventhough comes from 8mp as well. Theres little to no digitally look at all at the optimal zoom, because its AI doing a clever job.
And at the moment, only Huawei are on the top quality & range in terms of zooming image. Next S11 looks interesting as well.

Swm1, 21 Dec 2019This confirms to me that the S11+ will be better. Firstly i... more"the S11+ will still produce 12mp detail"
Not so fast. First of all you can't simply crop in 2x and produce a 12MP photo from Quad Bayer 48MP sensor, there would be a lot of artifacts from array conversion which would make the final image look a lot worse than a native 10x 8MP one at pixel level.
Second, both companies might put another telephoto lens to let it do its job at medium zoom range, so at this point you can't judge which phone will feature overall more useful zoom camera over the other.

This confirms to me that the S11+ will be better. Firstly it will have better photos with it's 48mp 5x optical all the way from 2x zoom upwards. At 10x optical/digital hybrid, the S11+ will still produce 12mp detail. Better than the P40 pro!
8mp is crap for 10x optical. And the best and most zoome used zoom is between 2 and 5 anyway lol

This is exactly what i was hoping for. 10x optical zoom is the ideal amount of long-distance zoom for a smartphone. Obviously it is too much for medium-distance, so let' hope they add a separate 3x zoom sensor for that. It would be the perfect camera setup, really.
Also, 8MP is fine. P30 Pro's 8MP 5x telephoto camera has proven to be the best among the competitors. I am not concerned about that.

Jake420, 21 Dec 2019Idk how to feel about 10× optical zoom with 8mp resolutionWell, the 8MP 5x zoom camera on the P30 pro is really good. The only problem is in the dark (due to f3.4 aperture).
I'm afraid about the zooming between 1x and 10x, though. It can be partially solved by adding a 3x zoom lens, so I hope Huawei will do that.

Jake420, 21 Dec 2019Idk how to feel about 10× optical zoom with 8mp resolutionI agree with you. When Samsung put the 10x optical zoom on the Galaxy K zoom, they settled it with a 20.7MP 1/2.3" lens. 10x optical zoom from an 8MP lens does worry me a little about the photo quality if the sensor size still remains at 1/4" like in the P30 Pro.

I do agree about the jack, but that seems unlikely since Huawei already started ditching it with the P20 Pro.

Because 5x zoom is so last year. Obviously its probably one of many - not obvious - new features, unlike 8K and such, which you can guess based on chip specs.
There is one old feature I would still welcome though - jack.
