29 December 2019
Huawei has also been working really hard to get Indian developers on its store and craft Google app alternatives of its won.

Do you know that Facebook, WhatsApp, Google and Twitter have been banned in China and there have local copycats apps to match them. Huawei is a private company and they have been continuously lieing about everything. In China there is no need to create profiles to sell, these Chinese companies simply handover the data to the government.

iNeo S, 30 Dec 2019You hate apple, you hate google. You hate everyone but the ... moreMNan when we come to as far as may 1972 the first cell phone was Motorola by Martin Cooper and his team.
When comes to copycats and plagiatory apple google samsung LG, HTC, Huaweei, Xiaomi Oppo, Vivo Realme etc. All are just copy paste of Motorola.
I hope i dont need to remind you again.

And just for you. I dont hate them i just dont like them.
All i like is the best phone for best price thus Xiaomi, Huawei, Realme, Oneplus, ROG2 etc are easy winners.
If xiaomi can make a phone for 100 or 150 and sell ot for 200 or 250 others c an too.
No need to pay 1500 eur for apple phone made for 300 by same chinese people like Xiaomi is made by.

I do understand that every company have its expenses but even a 10% profit is a profit. If company like Xiaomi says its enough then others can say it too.
No need to pay CEO 1 milion times more salary per week than chinese labourer of the same company earns per year or life time.

All we need is a Harmony OS and then we all can say goodbye to google services and crapple expensive unfriendly OS.

                All Hail to Huawei.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2019Dude, you will never see on Hamrony US apps like Facebook, ... moreAlso, to add onto my comment, "Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube, WhatsApp, Skype, Snapchat, Instagram" aren't separate companies. Facebook owns WhatsApp and Insta, Google and Microsoft own virtually everything else (and who cares about LinkedIn?).

There's no reason to assume FB/Google/MS are intent on tying themselves to US government policy, they have campuses and HQs in the EU and Asia that they could easily switch to with hardly a hiccup in their operations. In fact they definitely have internal contingency strategies in place for changing their HQ location for business.

The big tech companies are already lobbying the US government to take down the restrictions. If one of them jumps ship, they're all going to jump ship.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2019Dude, you will never see on Hamrony US apps like Facebook, ... moreWell, that's assuming that those companies remain US based. There's really no reason to assume this; They only need to move their HQ to virtually any other country which doesn't restrict them from trading with China. If it's in their business interest, they'll do it.

They stay in the US because it's the most profitable market, so they need to stay on the US government's good side. As other markets become more profitable across Asia, Europe, and Africa (which is inevitable, given the population and wealth growth) their incentive to remain tied to the US government dwindles.

ZTE was easy for bullying, Huawei not so much ... more sanction and more propaganda incoming in 2020 but people in Shenzhen probably have a plan of their own, good luck to them.

What's with this foolish article that's suspiciously looking like an ad?

Huawei claimed that HongMeng OS is open source, during their so-called official launch back in summer, but they failed to show any evidence. They showed not a single line of code on their developer forum, and the OS they claimed to be HongMeng shipping with their "Honor Smart Screen"(official English translation unknown) contains Android components like ADB and WebView, and the firmware version starts at 9.0.0.62, suspiciously resembling a version number of Android Pie.

                              >life has been anything but easy for the Chinese tech giant
Don't try to paint them as an underdog because they're anything but, they're practically a branch of the Party, and life is VERY easy for them in their domestic market which is the largest on earth and contributes most of their revenue, and where the Party reigns supreme.

5G rollout in China is entirely government-directive with carriers, particularly China Unicom exhibiting reluctance and still massively investing in 4G earlier during the year. A major factor for this government-led push is to bail out Huawei by externally and artificially boosting their sales in infrastructure and subsequently handsets.

In China Huawei has, for years, been able to pass ARM based solutions(which share core vulnerabilities with all other ARM based solutions) as entirely proprietary and secure and sold to the government/military for lucrative contracts. This only proves that there are people at the top, the very top, covering for Huawei's brazen acts, and whether or not their wares are secure is second to their profit.

Last month, Li Hongyuan's sufferings, emerging despite an insane degree of censorship, also clearly expose the collusion between the Party and Huawei, as the police and judiciary system effectively act as Huawei's private cleanup squad.

Why wouldn't Microsoft do something like this and infuse the metro ui from Windows 10 mobile?

The world needs at least 2 alternative to Android for non-Apple devices. Harmony OS will hopefully become one and I hope there is one more from Europe/Russia, South Asia, or Latin America. Have Google and Washington controlling 80% of all tech devices and use it as weapon is simply too dangerous for humanity.
