TSMC will soon start building 5nm Apple A14 chipsets for the upcoming iPhones

02 January 2020
The iPhone 12 family may become the first smartphones to be powered by a 5nm chip, unless the Huawei Mate 40 can beat them to the punch

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2020The tech industry is now not about who first released that ... moreMotorola's design does seem better as they made a fold-able phone rather than a fold-able phablet with better hinge design. But we can't say it is a better implementation until it hits the market.

5nm means more space to cramp more things inside. But performance is yet to be seen.

However if a 5nm lose to a 7nm, it means big shame to the chip makers. However, the big shame normally fell on the OS..

And Apple chip always have shown to make full use of the space given. Their chip tends to waste less space on ram, but more space allocated to performance, while their OS takes care of the rest.

It shows the importance of holding both software and hardware with a strong grip.

In 2018 Huawei announced their 1st 7nm kirin 990 chipset but 1st 7nm was officially launched by apple as a13 binoic chip and now huawei already announced about kirin 1020, a 5nm chipset but now apple announced their 5nm chip also.. Its lol..

The tech industry is now not about who first released that tech to the public, it is now who implements it better, the galaxy fold is a best example, it released it first but IMO motorola implemented it better

It's amazing how small things are getting. This is roughly double the diameter of a strand of DNA.

Being first to the market does not yield performance/qualityquantity victory as Apple keeps proven yearly.

Why does it matter? The fact that the TSMC is giving Apple 2/3 of the capacity tells you who is first in line. As usual, I will expect Huawei to come out a couple of weeks before and say first, even when their device won't ship for a month or so later. They have done so every time in the past and I don't expect them to change that practice now.

IpsDisplay, 02 Jan 2020Typo? Is the p40 really gonna launch with 1020??? Mate ... moreIndeed the Mate 40 not the P40, thanks.
