The December update actually came in November, so this isn't surprising anymore.

People need to stop using big company cloud server and host everything themselves. Most of the stuff is really easy and with larger interest it will get even simpler.

They are lower price scam you will slowly realize it. These companies are looking only for money to get from there crap products by buying in bulk for that low price.
But that lower price suggests less software support(with only few employees) and these silly things happen.
Guys open your eyes few more bucks are really important and not hard to put on this security based appliances they are really required buy it from other trustful brand not this low price crap.

I knew these smart home security solutions would turn into a shitshow eventually, just did not expect it to be so soon.

The clear thing here is its the fault of software not the hardware I guess the camera was working ok but the bugged software showed something else

You guys that are defending this Xiaomi's crap products (because there isnt another word to define something as broken as this) are so poor and broke that you would probably sell your son to some chinese black market ring just to get some shiny cheap tech from them.

I cant even believe you are blaming Google for this. This shows you know nothing of how a fckin security camera works. The error that is described here happened because Xiaomi probably left some backdoors opened on the firmware of the device itself. The google assistant probably make an api call to the system, and the system by "error", returned the backdoor with the streams from other cameras.

If this doesnt makes you believe that Chinese OEMs arent to be trusted, then I feel sorry for your country and people, since they are probably going to get doomed by the CCP strategies, since this isnt the first time one of them gets caught red-handed.

If a bug of software, so is a bug from Google and due to that they are disabling they crap software and support. Better avoid software from USA plenty of backdoors like Facebook, Apple, etc. You can't get privacy with them, only be a thing and a number for their business.

The cameras and hardware for Xiaomi were working ok, taking images, the software was the bugged one, so a Google bug and concern.

Using the Google assistant itself is giving up your privacy.
Only a fool gives Google access to their security camera footage through Google assistant.

All these security cameras with cloud storage can't be trusted. You can install one at your office but definitely not at your home. Not so safe.
I'd rather have security cameras which record and keep files locally. Might cost a little extra but privacy is no.1 priority.

So funny. Is a software bug from Google crap software so they disabled that module asap. Not a hardware problem of Xiaomi that was obviously working capturing images. The poor software from Google was sending them wrongly. For that shit support better avoid Google software. Another fail of USA companies, as usual. Like the bugs from Apple, Facebook, etc. Another one...
