Still waiting for that one phone with 90hz screen, wireless charging, thin bezels and nothing on the screen. decent battery size would be a plus. If OnePlus 7 had wireless charging I would have bought a new phone already. Looks like I'm gonna wait another year on my old S7 before I buy something else.

Just to add that the screen protectors are not only more expensive, but they are not as good as the flat ones. I am on the third one on my Note9 and at the end I had to resort into an old fashioned film type in order to get acceptable fit and useability. Tempered glass? Foget it!

的, 05 Jan 2020curve equals broken , I'm not a fan of curved screen. My Mate 20 Pro screen doesn't break just because it's curved.
However, I think it will break if I drop it ... just like flat screens.
Is it more expensive to replace? Of course.

kuba, 04 Jan 2020Then I wont buy it. I will choose another one with flat screen :)Just stick with the iPhones, same flat screen & design every year.
So you will know what you're getting each time.

Chineese manufacturers still think curved screens are still a demanded feature.
I'm still waiting for a phone like Samsung S10e from other manufacturers. Small, large screen, thick with bigger battery.

The zero bezel movement is the worst thing about the mobile industry these days. It doesn’t look good (unless you’re 13). It offers only UX inconvenience.

its better to not use 64mp imx686, Gw1 or 40mp imx650 for main
so much better to use more number 108mp for main camera
& 40mp imx650 for selfie ( SO HOT )

The Voice of Reason, 04 Jan 2020Curved/non-rectangular screens are the worst inventions by ... moreWell, actually you are right, there is no practical use for curved edges display, their only goal is commercial.
Their purpose is to artificially increase the score of percentage on the screen surface and give a bezel less illusion.
So basically that's a pure capitalism trap with only downside for the users.
_It make the phone hard to grab without accidentally clicking on stuffs, and when there is a safety against it, it requires computing power and consume battery.
_It make the screen harder to look at on the sides (after all, we try to make larges screens concave, not convexe) and they are more prone to reflect, both those who make the display hard to see and those who can be dangerous for, let's say the driver you are sitting next to.
_It make the screen more fragile as it is now exposed directly on the sides.
_It make the whole phone less structurally tough and requires the display itself to be a major structural element.
_It make screen protector more expensive.
_It render cases hard, costly and even impossible to make.
_And it makes the whole phone more expensive...
Tactile area or even display on the sides is actually a good idea, but not that way.
Having an area where we can control volume though a tactile interface would be way better, faster, more precise and natural, it could allow additional gestures like video time, image zoom, web pages scrolling control, but also quick mute, do not disturb, sliders control etc. And with a display it could even show some nice things like notification Icons, camera controls and more stuffs when the phone is held horizontally.
This is for sure the future like bezel less devices, but curved edges displays are just a stupid transitional phase like the notch ou punch holes that, for giving "full screen" put something on the screen.
If more people could be aware or informed that curved edge displays have not a single positive use for them, that it only come with problems and make the phone cost more, all that for a lie by using thickness as a way to make the percentage on usable surface higher on paper, it will quickly disappear.
Funny enough the notch, mostly the teardrop one use the same method, they calculate the whole screen surface area but don't remove the notch area from the result to boost the numbers...

Curved/non-rectangular screens are the worst inventions by the mobile industry.
I wonder who much time will it take for them to realize they are make using the phone a lot worse, not to mention that such screens are a whole lot more expensive to repair.
God I hate them.

RC255, 04 Jan 2020Of course there is. It works exactly the same. I have a One... moreOh, thanks for the info. Are you then swiping from the actual edge of the dislpay or is it registering the gesture in the curved area? Also, are you using it with a case? If so, does it interfere with said gesture? I currently use a flat screen and the case does get in the way sometimes.

Not just curved, but curved starting an inch inward, just like the OnePlus 7 Pro. These companies have gone full retard.
