With the Dimensity 800, not only a steady and smooth performance is guaranteed but any phone that will be powered by it will be extremely cost effective.

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2020I won't buy even 7G MediaTek phone. MediaTek phones are los... moreNot in my opinion. My redmi note 8 Pro is 4 or 5 months old. 200 euros. Incredible bang for your buck. It's worth every cent I paid. No issues with touch latency, battery life. Can handle heavy workloads with ease. It really does not feel midrange at all. I owned the sd845 powered pocophone F1 and, to be honest, I really don't see any difference in performance. If anything, I prefer the less intrusive waterdrop notch on the redmi note 8 Pro and the bigger battery and significant increase in screen space. I think that mediatek are making a serious statement of intent.

Based on the internal testing results circulating around the social media forums, MediaTek 5G solutions outperform Qualcomm 5G solutions substantially in several critical areas. It is almost certain Redmi Note 9 Pro will have a 5G option and the SoC will be Dimensity 800 (D800). In terms of general performance, D800 is head of SD730, at par with SD765. But in terms of 5G performance, D800 is vastly superior to SD765. In terms of efficiency and heat management, D800 (7nm) also outperforms SD765 (8nm), based on real-world testing results.

if this mediatek 5G chipset powers phones under 30k in India, it will be a wonder

If this turns out to be affordable, it would sell better than Snapdragon 765 chipset.

This is a good candidate SoC for Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, provided that the internal testing is satisfactory for Xiaomi. I will not be surprised if MediaTek follows up with Dimensity 500, Dimensity 600, Dimensity 700, Dimensity 900, provided that Dimensity 800 is successful. This will help phone-makers to hit different price points for their 2020 5G smartphones. The volume of 5G smartphone sale for 2020 is going to be massive, approaching 300 millions units just for the Chinese market alone.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 07 Jan 2020Got a feeling that MediaTek will end up overtaking Qualcomm. Doubt it, but competition is always good as Qualcomm will be forced to resort to more than just over/underclocking for future midrange and upper-midrange chips.

DrakeX, 07 Jan 2020Midrange?? It's got four CA76 cores! Also G77 too. Mediatek... moreAbsolutely. Mediatek solves the big problems of their heating issue. Dimensity will change the rules in 5G era.

Crapsung Lagging , 07 Jan 2020I wish xiaomi redmi note 9 pro using mediatek 1000L, punch ... moreI doubt.. Maybe next Redmi Note Pro series will use Dimensity 800.. Not 1000L.. 1000L will be used by "Lite" version of manufacturer's flagship such as Reno 3 Lite. Maybe Mi 10 Lite? 1000 is used by Mi 10 and SD865 used by Mi 10 Pro.

MagicMonkeyBoy, 07 Jan 2020Got a feeling that MediaTek will end up overtaking Qualcomm. Probably not but be sure this 7nm part will have less heating issues than the p90t.

Too bad it very likely will not compatible with gcam. And looking at the sh#t optimization at camera software of most companies, so i think it still is a no

Its time for Qualcomm to ship their premium midrange SOCs with 4 big cores and a powerful gpu similar to adreno 630(yes a 2018 flagship gpu...but still its much more powerful than midranger gpu's till now.... mediatek is trying to get more competitive to qualcomm....
