Google will come out with its own "Metro" rip-off soon and the fanboys will undoubtedly hail it a marvel of innovation.
Love it or hate it, this is the GS3: A 4.7" phone with silver bezel around the screen and an elongated, rectangular HOME button at the bottom.

blueglue, 13 Apr 2012Thanks my friend, You reply should have raised an insight t... moreAs others have stated, XDA started waaayyy before Android and I was one of the members before Android became popular.
Of course the openness attracted Devs yet at the same time devs ARE STARTING to pull away due to it being so open.
Lets clear one thing up, I am not a WP supporter, I "like", not am a fanboy of Android. Android's appeal is solely due to it's openness and yet at the same time, it's openness is it's main flaw.
Also, lets clear up another thing, Android and new smartphone fans should take note of this comment, "YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY A SMARTPHONE FOR WHAT IT CAN BE IN THE FUTURE (UPDATES), YOU SHOULD BE SATISFIED WITH HOW THE PHONE IS OUT OF THE BOX". If updates are provided later for that phone, then that's a plus but future updates should NEVER be the reason you buy a smartphone regardless of the OS. This is what the newbies of smartphones seem to have forgotten and they go out and buy a smartphone based upon what they think the phone will be able to do and then are heated at the manufacturers when the update doesn't come to their device yet if you were satisfied with the phone as it was from the store, then not getting an update would not bother you.
Anywho, everytime somebody points out the obvious flaws with Android, it seems like it triggers a fanboy alarm that sends out blind fanboys in droves. Well this time, you blind fanboys are done. Regardless of what you think, Android is far from perfect.
Sure the customization is cool but outside of that, what else is there? Apps? How many useful apps are there out there? Maybe 400 out of the Half a million that Android and iOS has?
Another tired argument that Android fanboys like to use to make themselves feel superior is WP didn't have cut and paste when it first came out.
True, but Android couldn't even send MMS when it first came out and that is just as pathetic as no cut and paste.
How many iterations did Android have to go through to just become usable? 6? 7? And it STILL is not smooth.
The fact that Android phones require sooo much power to run decently is absolutely atrocious and I'm surprised that you let them get away with raising the price by adding ridiculous, not to mention not even fully utilized components such as dual core and quad core. I mean honestly, they haven't even utilized Dual Core yet and here they are doubling the power just to raise up that penny and you fanboys go right out there, supporting them when they're blatantly ripping you off yet if a competitor does this same thing, you all come out with tar and feathers ready to burn them at the stake.
And for the Love of God, Android has THE WORST fanboys of ALL companies. This title used to belong to iOS until the passing of Steve Jobs. Once that happened, there were fanboys in this very site and others makinf statements such as "Well it seems like the competition is over" and "What are you going to do now Crapple? Your leader has left you". No matter how much I dislike a company, I could NEVER be happy that a person has passed just to throw that in the competition's face like some of the Android fanboys have done. That just proves how low some of the Android supporters will stoop to support their OS.
Another thing is how they COMPLETELY OVERLOOK the faults in Android such as the FACT that the App Menu is iOS or that Android is not utilized halfway correctly to use the power that is has. Do you all realize the kinds of speeds and fluidity we are supposed to be seeing with a Dual Core or Quad Core chip in a phone? There should be NO lag whatsoever. If Fully utilized, Android would be as smooth as butter WITHOUT THE NEED FOR CUSTOM ROMS. Sure companies slap bloatware on devices but if Android was utilized correctly, even those things wouldn't be an issue.
Battery life is just pathetic. Seriously, and you blind Android fanboys cant debate this at all, the battery needed to keep Android running is absolutely atrocious. Why in the World would a person need a 3300mah battery just to keep an OS running for longer than a day? Don't get me wrong, I love that they are upgrading the battery tech finally but it is really a shame that it requires that much battery to last more than 10 hours. I'm glad that they are finally addressing this issue but it took them what 4 years to figure this out?
Now on to functionality, this is where I must give credit to Android as it is the most functional mobile OS out right now. Now the issue comes with updates. It seems like after every update, something is screwed up with the coding which causes the loss of functions in Android. This is the big thing that needs to be worked out. Even without bringing fragmentation into this, Stock Android causes these issues as seen with the recent ICS update on the Galaxy Nexus.
I could go on and on about the problems in Android but as stated earlier, most blind fanboys would just overlook them when it's happening to Android, yet when it happens to any other OS, they bring it to the forefront of the conversation.
Now as far as updates being paid, first off if they did that, Android and other OS supporters would cry and moan and would still be paying to update because they just HAVE to have the latest and greatest to show off. Now it would force alot more to go to XDA (which again helped Android skyrocket to the fame they are at now) to get their updates so even if they were paid, people would still pay for them because they have to have whats better than what their friends have.
No OS is perfect and none of them are even close to being perfect. Android is a good OS but they have ALOT they need to work on. Same can be said about WP and iOS even though I dislike both WP and iOS.
I'll leave you with that. I could go on but I think my point has been established.
