people are quite expecting too much from samsung. as i recall, they have to stick to the traditional galaxy series design. if you guys are looking for something diff, like all new physical improvements, you'll be disappointed. in my criticism, this is legit and realistic. it's not a mock up SG note. it's earpiece is wider and the screen is much closer to edge (even thinner bezels). i like the phone personally, moreover if it flaunts monster battery and processor. so guys, we'll slightly crossing the bridge and we're getting there sooner.

Its quite evident that, today most popular threads in XDA are android forums. you find most of the "traffic" among those threads. Be it devs/enthusiasts/ users/ fans...
Popular O/s , brand will raise the interest among devs, and it'll soon drag the average joe. Stop believing the fragmentation issue for now, there is aint any dev shift in the near future. @Tizen, please read the discussions (in comments section) in the same link you have posted.
The popularity of Android of the 'openness' attracted the devs in XDA, not the other way around.
In a closed system like WP or iOS, your thoughts on 'ease of update' is not entirely true. What if the update is made paid tomorrow?
btw, no one expects an update monthly? do you?
