Sony unveils Vision S concept electric car, which is jam-packed with Sony sensors, audio and more

07 January 2020
It's not clear if the company intends to sell the car - it looks like it just wants to score deals to make sensors and infotainment systems for other brands.

If Sony can match Tesla's driving range then they'll have a winner.
That interior makes Tesla's looks 3rd class carraige.

The car look f***in' nice...

Sensors and audio sure. Drive itself? No thank you. Not only do I not trust such infant technology in itself from anyone. I've seen Sony's quality control and management for to many years with to many different things. Computers, phones, PlayStations, etc. No thanks

And a Note 7 owner on top of that
I guess you managed to handle it :)

A Sony car?
So people will only get it 6 months after they order one, and it will brick every time there’s a software update. :D

Kingslayer, 08 Jan 2020The problem with all these cars getting computerized is the... moreI'm sure cars from the 50s are easier to repair than say a car from the 2000s. But yet somehow we still managed to repair them cars from the 2000s. Same with these new cars, we will manage.

The problem with all these cars getting computerized is they are far more difficult to repair. Check YouTube and how Mercedes Benz's reliability has gotten worse. If you want more planned obsolescence, make everything computerized.

I just got my brake shoes fixed and replaced the drum to my rear wheels on my 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE. My father did it for me. He's the best handyman I know. Such a hassle for him to do it but it saved me so much money from a real mechanic. Even replacing the light bulb in my front headlight was a hassle for him.

All cars are fine those first few years. Every part is still new. But once they start falling apart, they really start falling apart.

This looks really cool.

Shanti Dope, 07 Jan 2020Only because not everyone preferred Sony phones, doesn't me... moreI believe the metal frame glass sandwich was Apple's, in Android realm it should have been S6, IIRC.
But I largely agree with you.

Personal audio actually makes sense, there should be speakers in every headrest, incorporated with ANC to cancel out whatever other people are listening to through their respective speakers, made easier since all inputs go into the car allowing for cross-processing, and the reproduction qualities and positioning of all speakers are known. This way nobody needs to wear headphones yet nobody is distracting anybody else.

Shanti Dope, 07 Jan 2020Only because not everyone preferred Sony phones, doesn't me... moreAdmit to yourself, Sony lost the course... Yes sony was invention company but that was 5/6 years ago.... And nowadays half a year is big time period in mobile world... I loved Z1 for example... It was ahead of time... But 2019 and sony? Please. They make best camera sensors for other manufacturers but not for their devices... Even don't have software to catch up with 2019s phones... Sony became greedy.... They ask to much from price/performance aspect.... Charging Xperia 1 as Galaxy S series or Huawei Mate? Sorry but no. It's not worth it if you just take a look on competitors.... Some of them beat sony in every possible aspect of the device... Sony was a great mobile manufacturer but keyword is WAS

Hiten, 07 Jan 2020Atlast sony is trying something new. They have learned that... moreOnly because not everyone preferred Sony phones, doesn't mean they can't make great ones.
Admit it, many of the new features of today's mobile smartphones came from Sony's ideas.
Glass sandwich design, IP rating, side fingerprint scanner, super slow motion, metal frame, pixel binning technology, concept of portrait mode (background defocus), AR effects, battery care technologies, Bluetooth LDAC, active noise cancellation, Quantum Dot IPS panels, large camera sensors, extremely clean, optimized, and fast software, and many more.
These things wouldn't have been available to other phones early enough if Sony didn't mass produce phones with features like these.
They did not do very well in selling phones, but the quality of their products never changed one bit.

GAMIRSFM, 07 Jan 2020Note7 jokes in 2020, you really dont let this joke go?Everyone has pretty much forgotten about that phone for its failure. The reply doesn't even pertain to that device, not even one bit.

You're just way too assuming of things.
