Speaking to us last week at CES, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company’s next major phones — presumably the OnePlus 8 — will feature screens with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Lau is not one for subtlety, and claimed in a note to us sent later that it would be “the best smartphone display in 2020.” Having not seen it, we obviously can’t say if that claim is more than just bombast. OnePlus says that it worked with Samsung to develop the OLED screen, and that in addition it has done work on top of Android to improve animations (especially the core OS gestures) so they'll look smoother at 120Hz

Their new screen technology is from McLaren it hides the camera behind a glass that dims and clears up when activating the camera. So it looks like a dark glass back phone but activate the camera and the 3camera lens appear behind it. I work for oneplus

Then tell us about it the next fkg week

amoled ? have fun with burn in

I got a feeling that the OnePlus 8 will be announced at MWC, and then it would launch in March.

If OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a punch hole, then it would be an obvious downgrade from the flawless screen on the 7 Pro...

As long as they put the front camera behind the screen they can make it any refresh rate they want.

I would love to see a smaller OnePlus handset. I just went from the OnePlus McLaren. Back to the Galaxy S10. And love the size of the S10.

It can be as simple as a software and/or hardware controller that adapt the refresh frequency on demand. Like in the Pixels... or those fake 240Hz panels with blank screens between real refreshing. They'll call it new tech. But, at the end, in the small print of components you'll read "manufactured by Samsung" or others.

Still waiting for a phone with irridium fuel cells technology.
In other words a battery that will never get out of juice no matter how much you will use it.
Thats interests me much more than a 360 refresh rate bby Asus monitor or a 100W charging speeds.

I wonder if they intentionally left out the punch hole on the invite.

And the battery will drain as fast as those 120Hz.

They don't do anything on their own, it's all Samsung panels.

What is sure is that their prices will raise and refresh as fast as those 120Hz... Their new featureless mid-ranger will cost as much as their previous flagships. And the latest ones even more to make room to the new strategy. Never Settle!

Don't ask for jack, expandable storage, good cameras, etc. That is for tech nerds... good OP sheeps buy their alleged fast OS and shut up. Although this time, the mid-ranger are not going to be as fast as its price...
