Apple watch and Apple Health App is still the preferred methods of tracking for these insurance companies and health rewards.
Because of the nature of the Health App, you cannot modify the steps or heart rate. Unlike Google's offerings.. which editing steps is an easy task. Plus most of them do not have the resource to support the tons of health trackers out there.. only a few, like fitbit or polar.

Note7 owner, 23 Jan 2020Health insurers are pricing premiums off Apple Watch fitnes... moreIn some countries this is already happening, itÂÂ’s all about Lifestyle and Behavioural marketing with Insurers and Banks that come across as if they care about your health and whereabouts some companies in parts of Western Europe and Southern Africa come to mind. There is now a term known as behavioural banking.
You are correct, thereÂ’s huge business in this, most of the companies doing it are very upper middle class to affluent focused, so the margins are huge.

Health insurers are pricing premiums off Apple Watch fitness data. There’s big business to Apples watch business. Once insurance companies cover the cost of an Apple Watch Apple’s wearable business will explode. Apple has always been smart rather than chase the spec sheet wars (12g, 120ghz screens, blah, blah) they focus their resources on things that actually changes people’s lives.

what a great idea. this would encourage people to go to gym and be healthy. but this program would work depending on the rewards that apple will give and the number of gym that would participate in the program
