Samsung's AirDrop alternative, Quick Share, is weirdly cloud based

24 January 2020
Also, it looks like it's just a new coat of paint on an old feature - Link Share - which has been around for years.

Plenty of third party alternatives in the playstore which do a better job.

All these services are terrible. Why can't they create a standard like Bluetooth used to be where it worked and still works across all devices. Even today you can send files from dumb phone from 2005 to a latest Android via BT and it doesn't even have to be same brand. Now it'll be only between same brands. Idiotic.

Wifi direct works perfectly between two Samsung phones, and also most of the time between Samsung and Huawei. But cannot make it work between Samsung and Oppo or Vivo

Damn if only Samsung worked with the Xiaomi+BBK system,it would be open for a much larger audience

this article is very misleading. it even says, as you read on obviously, that this isn't actually cloud-based but only partially. as in you can share files locally with other Samsung devices but also choose to upload to the cloud if you want, which to be honest is a pretty useful feature.

Xiaomi has a similair service called Mi Drop since years ago. :-)
                          Its not cloud-based though.

I don't know if it has any limits filesize either.
