The UK will allow Huawei to build the 5G infrastructure in the country after all

28 January 2020
But it won't be involved in the core equipment.

I think if most of the people stay satisfied 4G so there are no reason go for 5G, but 5G definitely the future so are 6G... 10G

[deleted post]you can make an educated guess on how companies and governments handle 'data' just by looking at their general practices. IP theft, hacking, censorship etc. along with anti-progressive laws like trying to reform human rights to a weaker standard (which China is actively doing) and laws that make all companies in China surrender info to the CCP at wish. Unfortunately we've seen people arrested for merely speaking out about the coronavirus, information warfare with censorship on hong kong results in mainland etc.

The chinese government are not the least bit respectable or have any scrutiny in how they handle data so the idea that Huawei makes good phones so it's trustable to handle 5G tech is quite sad. You only have to look at their contribution to the mass detentions of uighers by helping with the camera tech. You can't really trust a government that oppresses people just for religion which happens with Falun Gong and even European countries get threatened just for giving awards to religiously persecuted people by China. I have no qualms in distrusting Huawei because they have never outwardly condemned the CCP and that shows they are either in agreement with the sort of police brutality in hong kong, land stealing in the south china sea, religious persecution, territorial aggression with Taiwan and other things. They have no voice of their own or they use it to silently support the violence and oppression, either way they're bad.

              Wise decision taken by "UK"

To me, it came as no surprise. Trump should at least have given proof before declaring that horse dead and kicking it around its allies too.

Plus, spying or no spying, billion-dollars technology means you've got to find a way to save every penny you can. It's a real shame trustworthy players like Nokia and Ericsson legged miles behind in matters that could've given them an unprecedented edge in a new technology.

China spies on Chinese citizens? Result: you get taken from your home to be "re-educated"...

Why is Huawei kit so cheap? Because greedy western phone companies can't resist a "good price. Result China has access to western nations networks.

Even if they have never used this to spy, remember that if there was a conflict between China and that country, they could disable the country's networks at will. Future 5G will support vital systems such as autonomous vehicles etc.

Western countries particularly the "Five Eyes" countries operate the biggest spy network in the world and tap on all major communications. Something Russia and China can only dream of doing.

Now, these jobs and economy growth does not benefit the local contractors, businesses and the EU, it benefits a foreign country.

Wow! Just to save a dollar/pound/euro.

                          Just embarrassing!

Nokia and Ericsson should only blame themselves. Two EU companies that the UK choosed an Asian company mainly because Nokia/Ericsson lack of innovation and their prices are too high and refused to cut their cost in a highly competitive market.

This is embarrassing for the UK/EU!

Very different indeed. Russia and China have a very different outlook to Western countries. To think that they play by the same rules, or have the same intent is frankly crazy. I'm not saying Google, Apple, USA, Europe etc don't spy, they do, course they do. I'm not saying Western countries are whiter than white, but c'mon, different rules apply in all countries. Apple resisted the government attempts at breaking into an iPhone, do you really thing Huawei would take the CCP to court? All governments tell porky pies, but not all can take it to the nth degree, though I'm sure they would if they could. Trump can split his brand of drivel, but he can also, and should also, be widely lambasted and ridiculed. Try that in China, in Russia, in Iran, in Saudi Arabia, et Al, the list goes on and on. People talk about China like it is some docile, soft kitten. Crikey, you're miles off. Are Huawei syphoning info off, no idea. Do I think Huawei would be able to resist, if the CCP came asking, nope.
