Who would've thought someone would invent a way for the public to voluntarily enter every single detail of their life into a database? 50 years ago, the government wouldn't even dream this would work. Crazy times indeed.

    Spoiler alert: Not gonna happen.

YUKI93, 01 Feb 2020Jokes on you, lots of my real-life friends are on Facebook. There's an invention called a cellphone. It's a device that allows you to call your friends or send text messages. Maybe you and your friends should try that.

        "Misuse"

Intended use more like. WtH does Facebook do with collecting all this data if not using it in a gainful manner. Ofc they'd do anything they can to get the most out of them. Only solution is to not trust them, the end.

Plenty of other safer apps to stay in touch.
Facebook is not one of them.

You guys realize that you don't have to use Facebook right? You can actually survive without it.

You need to pay for your privacy folks. These "free" social media apps are made for data mining. OFC they also need money to run their respected servers.

s-pen pusher, 01 Feb 2020face recognition is handled machine to machine and with enc... moreThere's nothing wrong with the tech, it's what you do with it. If people fully believe Google, there wouldn't be a rise in privacy-orientated web search engine and AOSP custom ROMs like LineageOS or /e/ ROM from e.foundation. Heck, Huawei Mobile Services might not even be existed at all.

face recognition is handled machine to machine and with encryption, so what's the fuzz? face recognition helped me alot of times when people grabbed my pictures to create fake profiles. also, it provides convenience when people in the picture i upload are tagged automatically, then they are just notified. this was also done by samsung in 2012 with their smartphones- i am not sure if it was with s3 then but this was present on my note 2 then. for samsung it somehow only worked when the phone is online, which gives a hint of the process being done online; but it also helped alot when looking for a picture of a person. i don't think it is any less secure than face unlock as, again, there is end to end encryption with the transmission of the face information.

Well that answers the ages old 'whether money's the solution to every problem'

... so why does the media only have either lifeless photos of mark zuckerberg or photos in which it looks like he's poorly trying to contain his anger?
